Today’s reading: Psalms 46:1-3

“God is our refuge”

We read in Psalms 46:1-3:

1 God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.

A lot of people live in fear. However, as followers of Yahshua, we need not to fear. King David gave us a powerful reason.

God is our refuge, strength, and help. He is there whenever we need Him.

Some people feel like when they go through troubles in life, God has abandoned and forsaken them. However, King David tells us the opposite. Instead of leaving us, He served as a refuge. He gives us strength. He helps us.

This world, with all its advanced technology and knowledge, isn’t safer as it was thousands of years ago. Anything can happen at any given time and place.

There are people who are wealthy and prosperous, but they are plagued with worries and fears. There are also those people who constantly live in danger, yet, they are at peace because they placed their trust in God.

King David described the extreme situations when troubles come. He mentioned the mountains being carried to the sea. He also describes the waters roaring with great power.

At the sight of these calamities, fear strikes even the bravest hearts. However, as terrible as they may look, those who trust in God will see the Father as their refuge and strength.

Yes, not every faithful servant of God has been rescued. In fact, a lot of them died a gruesome death. However, the ultimate refuge that we have is that sometimes, we are delivered from the troubles of this world through our death to show us that He has the power to resurrect us in the future.
