The Single Surest Way to be Happy According to the Bible

Everyone wants to be happy. You and I want to have a fulfilling and satisfying life. However, we live in a sad world where everything seems to be geared toward the way of depression, anxiety, fear, anger, and all kinds of negative emotions. You don’t have to be sad and depressed. We can all be happy if we only know where to look.

Where to find the answer?

The good news is God wants you to be happy and more than, to be blessed! Though all people wants to be happy, they diametrically go to the opposite direction of happiness. If you want to know how to operate a machine, you ask its inventor, right? In the same way, if you want to be happy, you ask your Creator, and that is God.

Regrettably, people go their way and experiment by themselves how to be happy. Most of them, if not all, end up sadder than they first started. The truth is that we all have this empty hole in our hearts. So we wake up each day filling that void with the wrong things. We sacrifice and put our best effort in chasing the wrong things in life that we thought will make us happy. At the end of the day, we still feel empty, depressed, and defeated.

Here’s a little secret that you should understand by now; that empty void in your heart is spiritual in nature, and you can only fill it with the spiritual things that God can only provide. Therefore, God is the only one who can satisfyingly fill that void!

Jesus/Yeshua said:

“Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him… I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall NEVER hunger, and he who believes in Me shall NEVER thirst” (John 6:27, 35).

Therefore, if you want to be happy, there is only one place we should go to. We don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to hire life coaches or purchase self-improvement books. The TRUE source of all wisdom is right here with us all along. It is the Word of God, the Bible. This Book of all books will help us understand what truly will make us happy.

The surest and single way to be happy

Do you know the surest and best way to be happy? Proverbs 29:18 tells us:

HAPPY is he who keeps the law.”

That’s it! It that’s simple! You don’t have to do your own research. God did not leave us clueless on how we should live this life and be happy. In His infinite wisdom, love, and grace, He taught us the real way to happiness, and that is to OBEY HIS LAW!

Could something be so simple ever work?

When most people read this, they may automatically say, “Yeah right!” Many are cynical and skeptical about anything that the Bible say. But let me explain why this simple verse can lead to ultimate happiness and blessedness.

We know that the Ten Commandments summarizes God’s law to us. It is like the constitution of God’s Law. The Ten Commandments reflect God’s character, thinking, and attitude toward us. God set the spiritual law in this universe that whosoever obey His commandments will reap happiness and for those who break them will reap sadness, suffering, and pain. That’s just how it works!

A world keeping God’s commandments

Now imagine for a second how the Ten Commandments can transform this world IF ONLY everyone will do their best and keep them.

If people just make God their God, Master, and Ruler, then this world will get rid of all false religion. We will only have one religion that unites all people in the world. We will no longer have religious confusion.

Imagine if people will keep the fourth commandment, to observe the Sabbath Day holy. We could have less stressful lives, and we will become healthier as we give our bodies more time to recover and rest. We can build stronger and better relationships with one another as we spend more time with families and friends meeting in one congregation.

Imagine if people will honor their father and mother. We could have more respectful children who love their parents. We could have better parents because they will also act as honorable individuals. We could have more happy families!

Imagine if people will stop killing each other. Wars will automatically be a thing of the past. All of the enormous amount of money spent on developing expensive and destructive weapons can now be used to better things such improving the lives of many poor people, educating them, and produce more food.

Imagine if people will never commit adultery. We can see more happy marriages and stronger family ties. We can see the end of pornography, the exploitation of young men and women. We will see the end to sexually transmitted infections and diseases. We will see a stop to all sexually immoral behavior!

Imagine if people will never steal anymore. Imagine if people will work hard to earn a living. Imagine that padlocks and keys will not be needed anymore because we can just leave our houses open and not ever fear that people will break in and steal our things. Imagine how we don’t need police officers and even prisons where to put bad people. Imagine the world with no corrupt officials who use their country’s money for their own good.

Imagine if people will be honest and will not bear false witness against their neighbor. In a world where it is harder to trust anyone, we certainly need more honest people. Imagine if you don’t have to ever doubt whether a person is telling you the truth or not. Imagine all the people who maliciously been accused and even wrongfully imprisoned will not be set free.

Imagine if people will not covet anymore and will be satisfied with what they already have. Imagine if people will not think about what they can get but rather what they can give!

Now, imagine if all individuals just keep even a single Commandment from the Ten Commandments, we will have a better place to live in right now. Now, what more if everyone is keeping all of these Commandments: this world will be a paradise – A PLACE FULL OF HAPPY PEOPLE!

Can you see how Proverbs 29:18 can indeed bring happiness not just to you, but also to the ENTIRE WORLD!

A world of people keeping Proverbs 29:18 is coming!

Thankfully, we can all have the full confidence that this world, a world full of happy people, will soon come. It will NEVER be achieved through man’s government, but rather it will ONLY be achieved through God’s government. Time will come when God sends back His Son to directly intervene in man’s affairs and will establish a Kingdom that will bring everlasting Utopia!

Isaiah gave us a glimpse of what the reign of Yeshua will look like:

Many people shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
He shall judge between the nations,
And rebuke many people;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore
.

This is just among the beautiful description of the wonderful world that Christ will set up here on earth. I have written a full article that explains these descriptions. So be sure to read, 8 Little-Known Descriptions Of The Future Kingdom Of God.

Psalms 16:11 adds:

You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is FULLNESS OF JOY;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

So do you want to be happy? Then follow Proverbs 29:18. Keep God’s commandments and you will not just be happy, you will also be blessed – not just today, but for all eternity!
