Today’s reading: Psalms 118:24

The day Yahweh has made

We read in Psalms 118:24:

24 This is the day the LORD has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

When I was still a small boy, I often heard this Psalm being sung in our small village. I remember my neighbors, relatives, and even parents singing this song. Back then, I never knew what it meant until I grew up.

Life is truly tough and it is even tougher for some of us. Difficulties and trials are often just looming around. The uncertainties of life could lead us to think that our situation is hopeless.

Thus, we might wake up each morning defeated. We don’t see any solution to our problems.

However, this psalm reminds me that each day that comes into our lives is a gift from God. He made each day and thus, we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Yes, life can be discouraging at times, but don’t let that take your joy. Each day is a promise from God that things will get better, that things aren’t really hopeless.

His love, mercy, and grace are greater than any problem we would ever face. We don’t know what the future holds, but God knows. He perfectly knew what we are capable of and how to bring us into His Kingdom.

If you are sad, lonely, or depressed, don’t forget that you are alive right now. There are those who didn’t make it this morning. There are those who will not be here anymore to greet the morning sun.

Every morning brings thousands of reasons to be thankful and joyful. Don’t focus on your problems too much. Focus on the One who will help you solve them.

Don’t ever forget that this is the day Yahweh has made. Thus, you can go through life with joy in your heart and faith in God.
