Have you ever wondered what Jesus’ special diet could have been? This is a very interesting topic since we are not just talking about any man, but we are talking about our one and only Lord and Master, Jesus Christ – the God of the Old Testament and the creator of all things. Would not that capture your attention? I hope it does because it can have a BIG IMPACT to your salvation.
In this blog let me share with you Jesus Christ’s special diet and how you may also partake of it.
Jesus Christ’s special diet
“In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work” (John 4:31-34).
From this verse, Jesus Christ explained that His food, His daily sustenance and the source of His Strength, is DOING THE WILL OF GOD AND FINISHING GOD’S WORK.
Putting God as our top priority
How many of us can honestly say that we are eating the special diet of Jesus Christ? Could it be that many days have passed without us eating this food? Do we even care with what God expects from us?
We need to make our priorities in life aligned with God’s will and His work. Surely, many physical things in this life can bring us happiness: but most of it doesn’t last. When you do God’s work, the reward does not just stay in this lifetime, but throughout the eternity. It is the best investment you can ever make in your entire life.
Three lessons we can learn
Lesson no. 1: We will spiritually die without eating spiritual food. It is a fact that we humans will not last a month without food. We won’t also last even a week without water. So imagine if you don’t eat of Jesus’ special diet on a daily basis. You will get spiritually weak and won’t have the strength to do God’s work. If you continue on with your life without eating the spiritual food, then death is inevitable.
Lesson no. 2: We must do God’s will in our lives. Jesus specifically mentioned that His meat is doing God’s will. But what exactly is God’s will? Here are some of the few verses that mentioned the will of God.
I Thessalonians 5:14-18
“Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
I Thessalonians 3-6
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.”
I Peter 2:15
“For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.”
Lesson no. 3: We need to do God’s work. The work of God is preaching the gospel. Proclaiming His word throughout the world is at the forefront of the Christian cause. We should never let a day pass without doing the work of God. We should always be at our feet in spreading, sharing and living the gospel of God.
Now that you know Jesus’ special diet, will you eat of it? Like eating physical food, consuming of the special diet of Jesus Christ is a MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. Will you eat it and live? Or ignore it and spiritually die? The choice is yours.
