Today’s reading: Isaiah 2:4

A time of lasting peace

We read in Isaiah 2:4:

4 He shall judge between the nations,
And rebuke many people;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.

One of the greatest blessings of God’s Kingdom reigning here on earth would be the cessation of war and conflict among nations. Throughout the centuries, humans have been at war with each other.

Millions, if not billions, of people, were killed due to unnecessary conflict while others were left alive only to suffer the frightening consequences of war.

Today, we see billions upon billions of dollars being spent on producing lethal weapons. People create a million-dollar missile just to see it blow up into pieces. We create weapons of mass destruction that take away life instead of supporting life.

Thankfully, when God establishes His Kingdom here on earth, we will see peace, harmony, and unity. Instead of conflict, we see love. Instead of producing bombs, we produce abundance and prosperity. Instead of killing each other, we help each other.

Truly, what the future Kingdom of Yahweh looks like is diametrically opposite to what we are seeing right now. In God’s Kingdom, we can all safely dwell in our homes without any fear of destruction, criminals, and war.

What a great future lies ahead for all of us. Yes, we are not there yet, but we should focus on God’s Kingdom as we go through this world ruled by Satan.

The suffering of this world should lead us to pray more earnestly, “Thy Kingdom come.”
