Today’s reading: Psalms 119:105

A Light to Our Path

We read in Psalms 119:105:

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

The Word of God serves as our guiding light. If ever you have experienced walking or groping in the dark, you know very well the importance of having a source of light.

We live in a dark and evil world ruled by Satan. Everywhere we look and go, there’s darkness even in the farthest corner of the earth. As a result, darkness hides the truth. Darkness promotes evil. Darkness destroys those who live in the light.

To live this life, we need a light — a source of light. By ourselves, we can’t provide that kind of light. We might try to produce that light, but it will never last. We can only do so much by ourselves.

Thankfully, we can always turn to God’s word. Notice, that the Word of Yahweh is a lamp to our feet. It means, we carry it with us wherever we go. We don’t simply leave the lamp in our home. We actively use it to see where we step.

In the same way, we use God’s word to guide every step we take. By reading, learning, and understanding God’s word, we gain the wisdom of applying them in our lives.

Aside from that, the Scripture also serves as a light to our path. It doesn’t simply light the surrounding areas, but also the places where we intend to go. It’s a light that both shines near and far. It shows us where we are and where we are going.

God’s word is no doubt an important tool to help you reach the Kingdom of our Father. We don’t know the way. By ourselves, we will get lost. Especially in this dark world, we can’t easily see the truth because it is hidden by Satan.

We need the word of God to serve as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Never ever think that you can make it on your own. If you simply rely on yourself, you’ll end up reaching the wrong destination.

So, don’t simply just own a Bible. Read it. Study it. Live by it.

By doing so, we gain a lamp that lights our path that will lead us to everlasting life.
