Today’s reading: Romans 3:4
“Let God be true”
We read in Romans 3:4:
4 Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.
Even if every single human being believes one thing but if it is contrary to what God has said, then it is always God who is true and right, not men.
This powerful expression that we read in the Bible testifies to the truth that God can’t tell a lie — that everything He says and does would be the truth!
Can you imagine if all human beings would believe this statement? What if this is a truth that no one questions? What if people make this a fixed and universal rule that no one can remove?
Sadly, that’s not how it works.
In reality, even believers could sometimes doubt God and by doubting, we have made God a liar in our thinking.
We read the Bible and sometimes, we consciously and unconsciously question God’s word. We think that it couldn’t be that true. It might be true for others, but not for me. It could be true in the past, but it can’t be true today.
Sometimes, we believe other people more than we believe in God. We limit God and we rely on ourselves for solutions to our problems.
Yet, whatever we believe and whatever we do, those things can’t change the fact that God is true. God’s veracity doesn’t depend on us. Whether we believe it or not, God is God and He can’t lie.
And because God is truth and there’s no deceit in Him, we can always trust in Him. We can put our confidence in Him 100%. No need to doubt. No need for disbelief. No need to question Him.
It takes a lot of faith to believe in God especially when we go through trials in life.
However, may this always guide us in everything we do, “Let God be true and every man a liar.”
