Today’s reading: Psalms 127:3-5

Like arrows

We read in Psalms 127:3-5:

3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.

4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.

5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Children are called a heritage from Yahweh. This means that children are from God. It is a gift and a reward.

Sadly, a lot of children today are unwanted. They are seen as a burden. Some think that children prevent them from having a self-fulfilling life.

As a result, abortion is rampant. Babies and children are abandoned. Young people are abused.

What a sad world we live in, especially for kids.

Yet, for us, Christians, followers of Yahshua, our mindset and attitude should be different from the people in the outside world. We see children as a blessing. We see them as a source of joy, contentment, and peace.

However, as parents, we also have a duty to fulfill. We are given children as a heritage and our role is to take care of them in the same way that God takes care of them.

When we become parents, we also become caretakers of God’s children. We have the responsibility to raise them in a godly manner. We are to set them as our priority. We must provide for their essential needs as well as help them reach their full potential as children of God.

Parenting is never easy. It comes with so many challenges. Yet, the Bible tells us that those who have children would be blessed and happy. They are like arrows in the hand of a warrior. Parents who have children will not be ashamed. When they have fulfilled their duty as parents, they become more respected in society.

Indeed, children are not a burden, but they are a blessing.
