Who is the god of this world?
You may be quick to answer that it is God the Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – the same God who offers us eternal life.
However, is that really what the Bible tells us? Or does the Bible identify another being who rules this world?
II Corinthians 4:4 tells us:
3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded…
1 John 5:19 also adds:
19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
And we know that wicked one is no other than Satan, the Devil.
This is the main reason that there is so much suffering in this world. But thankfully, it will not stay this way forever. There will come a time when God will step in and intervene in the affairs of this world.
