Today’s reading: John 19:12

It is finished

We read in John 19:30:

So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

After many hours of excruciating pain and unimaginable agony, Yahshua, in His human form, can finally say, “It is finished.”

His work and purpose as a human being culminated in the torture stake. He has given the ultimate sacrifice that will open the road to making salvation available to anyone who accepts His sacrifice.

Yahshua exclaimed “It is finished” not as an expression of resignation or defeat, but rather as an expression of success and peace. With His death, the penalty of sin and the curse of the law are now made null and void.

Yahshua can have joy and peace knowing that He has successfully accomplished the work He was sent to do.

We must then be extremely filled with astounding gratitude for this sacrifice. All could have easily been lost without our Messiah. The magnitude of sacrifice made should all behoove us to do our best not to waste Christ’s sacrifice.

May we all do our best to run our Christian race and endure until the end and once we get to the end of our race, we can also say, “It is finished” because we have also accomplished our God-given purpose.
