Today’s reading: 2 Chronicles 16:9

The Eyes of Yahweh

We read in 2 Chronicles 16:9:

9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”

Yahweh is sovereign. He is the supreme Ruler of this vast universe. The Bible tells us that His eyes run to and fro throughout the whole earth. Nothing escapes His attention. Every corner, even the darkest places on earth, God knows. He is ultimately in control and thus, He is worthy of our trust.

In our story, King Asa failed to remember his covenant with God. Instead, he made a covenant with the king of Syria. It’s quite interesting how Asa asked for help from his enemy. If only He had trusted God, he could have defended his kingdom from Israel and Syria.

This should teach us a lesson. Our ultimate trust should be placed on God, not on other people or material possession. God is on His Throne. He watches over us. When we need help, He will show Himself strong. He will fight our battles for us.

All we need to do is trust Him.

God is more than willing to help, but we can only get that help if we let Him help us.

So, the next time you need help, look to God.

His eyes are upon the earth and He cares for you.
