Today’s reading: Deuteronomy 6:5
The Great Commandment
When asked which of the commandment is the first and the great commandment, Yahshua quoted Deuteronomy 6:5:
5 You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
If this is the first and the great commandment, it follows that violating this commandment is also considered a great sin.
Sometimes, we forget that what the Almighty really wants from us is love.
We love Him because He first loved us.
Since God is love, then our response should also be love.
We can dedicate our time, energy, and money to God, but if these things are not motivated by love, they boil down to nothing.
We must love God with all our being.
We are told not just to love with our hearts, but will our soul and strength. This means loving God 100% — not 50%, 75%, or 90%.
Love should define our thinking, words, and actions. It should consume us to the point that it defines who we are.
