Let’s be honest.
At some point, you’ve probably heard a story that made you pause. A curse. A spell. A witch doctor. Someone claiming spiritual power that feels… real.
And if you’re not careful, fear starts creeping in.
“What if it’s true?”
But here’s the question we need to settle once and for all:
Can witches cast spells on real Christians?
Short answer?
No. Absolutely not.
And I don’t say that casually. I say it with confidence grounded in Scripture.

The Fear Is Real… But Is It True?
In many parts of the world, belief in witchcraft is deeply ingrained. Africa. Haiti. Even modern Western culture has its own version of it. People genuinely believe that someone, somewhere, can spiritually harm them from a distance.
But belief doesn’t equal truth.
The Bible is very clear. Yes, witchcraft exists. Yes, it is condemned.
“There shall not be found among you anyone… who practices witchcraft… or a sorcerer… For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 18:10–12, NKJV)
But here’s what many people miss:
Just because something is practiced doesn’t mean it has power over God’s people.
God Already Settled This
One verse completely dismantles the fear:
“For there is no sorcery against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel.” (Numbers 23:23, NKJV)
Read that again.
No sorcery. No divination. No curse.
If you belong to God, you are not spiritually vulnerable to witchcraft. Period.
Why?
Because your life is not in the hands of witches.
It’s in the hands of God.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31, NKJV)
My Personal Wake-Up Call About Superstition
I saw this play out in a very real and emotional moment.
When my mother passed away, our family gathered for the funeral. It was already a painful time. Emotions were high. Everyone was grieving.
Then something unexpected happened.
One of our church members brought chicken.
That might sound normal to you. But to some of my relatives, it was a big problem.
One of my aunties became furious. She believed in a superstition that bringing chicken to a funeral could cause another family member to die.
Think about that.
In the middle of grief… fear took over.
She even claimed to be a Christian. So I gently told her, “We don’t need to be afraid. Our lives are in God’s hands.”
But she resisted. She said that because of her tribal background, the curse could still affect her.
And that’s when it hit me.
Some people claim Christ… but still live in fear of superstition.
They believe in God on the Sabbath.
And fear curses on weekdays!
The Real Issue Isn’t Witchcraft… It’s Fear
The enemy doesn’t need actual power over you.
He just needs you to believe he does.
Because fear is powerful.
Fear makes you doubt God.
Fear makes you act irrationally.
Fear makes you forget truth.
But Scripture says:
“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV)
And again:
“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4, NKJV)
Let that sink in.
Greater. Not equal. Not competing. Greater.
Can Christians Be Affected At All?
Let’s be clear and balanced.
Christians can still be tempted. Tested. Even deceived if they are not grounded in truth.
But being under a curse from a witch?
No.
That idea directly contradicts Scripture.
“Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause shall not alight.” (Proverbs 26:2, NKJV)
A curse has no landing place in a life that belongs to God.
So What Should You Do?
Instead of fearing witches, spells, or curses…
Do this:
1. Submit yourself fully to God.
“Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7, NKJV)
2. Draw near to Him daily.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8, NKJV)
3. Replace fear with faith.
“In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?” (Psalm 56:4, NKJV)
Final Thought
Let me say this as clearly as I can:
Witches are not your problem. Fear is.
And fear loses its power when truth steps in.
You don’t need protection charms.
You don’t need rituals.
You don’t need to “counter” anything.
If you are truly walking with God…
You are already covered.
So stand firm.
And don’t let superstition steal the peace God already gave you.
