The One Thing Generous People Know That the Rest of Us Don’t

Let me say something that might shock you: Generosity isn’t about money.

That’s right.

Some of the most generous people in the world aren’t millionaires writing six-figure checks. They’re ordinary people—people who may not have much in their pockets but live with an abundance in their hearts. And here’s the kicker: They know something the rest of us don’t.

They’ve learned the secret that giving is not losing. It’s multiplying.

We’ve been taught to think that if we give away what we have, we’ll end up with less. It’s basic math, right? Subtraction. But God’s math works differently. His economy runs on trust, not fear. In His kingdom, subtraction often leads to multiplication.

Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV) says, “The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.”

Notice—it doesn’t say “might be watered,” it says “will.”

Generosity isn’t a gamble.

It’s a promise.

Think about the widow in Luke 21. She gave two small coins—everything she had. To the world, it looked like nothing. But to Yahshua, it was worth more than all the gold in the temple treasury.

Why?

Because generosity isn’t measured by the amount given but by the heart behind it.

Generous people know that every time they give, they’re planting seeds. They trust that God is the One who brings the harvest. They’ve seen the strange, beautiful way that blessings come back—not always in cash, but in joy, peace, friendships, opportunities, and an unshakable sense of purpose.

The rest of us? We’re often stuck in fear. We think, “I’ll give when I have more.” But that day never comes—because generosity is a habit, NOT a number in your bank account.

Here’s the truth: Generosity frees you.

It cuts the chains of materialism, fear, and scarcity.

It tells the world, “My trust is not in what I own—it’s in Who owns me.”

And maybe that’s what we’re all craving deep down.

Freedom.
