Are These Sex Positions Off Limits for Christians?

Let’s be honest—most Christians don’t like to talk about sex, especially not the specifics. But just because it’s uncomfortable doesn’t mean it’s unimportant. In fact, silence has left many married believers confused, ashamed, or even misled about what’s acceptable in the bedroom.

Here’s the truth: God created sex, and He designed it to be pleasurable, sacred, and shared exclusively between a husband and wife. But does that mean all sex positions are fair game? Not necessarily.

The Bible doesn’t offer a list of “approved” or “banned” positions. Instead, it gives us principles—and those principles help us discern what’s holy and what’s harmful.

Let’s explore a few guidelines:

1. Is It Loving and Mutual?

The foundation of Christian intimacy is love, not lust. If a sex act is done out of selfishness, domination, or force, it violates God’s design (Ephesians 5:25). Consent, care, and mutual joy matter.

2. Does It Honor the Body God Created?

Some positions imitate practices condemned in Scripture, like sodomy or unnatural acts (Romans 1:26–27). If a position causes physical harm or mimics perversion, it crosses a line.

3. Is It Influenced by Pornography or Worldly Desires?

If your idea of “good sex” is shaped by what you’ve seen in porn or secular media, you may be bringing defilement into your marriage bed (Hebrews 13:4). God’s standard is purity—not performance.

4. Does It Glorify God?

Yes, even your sex life should glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31). Ask yourself: Would Christ be honored by what we do in secret?

Remember, this isn’t about rules—it’s about righteousness, love, and protecting the sacred gift of intimacy.
