7 Practical Ways to Grow Your Faith

You want to grow your faith, right? But sometimes it feels like an overwhelming task.

Where do we even begin? The good news is that growing in faith doesn’t require some monumental leap—it’s a series of small, intentional steps that bring us closer to God.

And the even better news? God wants us to grow. He’s right there, guiding us every step of the way. So let’s talk about a few practical ways you can start deepening your faith today.

1. Pray Like Your Life Depends on It (Because It Does!)

Prayer—it’s our direct line to God.

Yet, how often do we treat it like a last-ditch effort when everything’s falling apart?

Here’s the thing: prayer is power. It’s your personal conversation with the Creator of the universe.

You don’t need fancy words.

Just talk to Him.

Share your heart, your hopes, your struggles. And don’t wait until you’re in crisis mode—make it your daily habit.

Believe me, the more you pray, the more you’ll sense God’s presence moving in your life. It’s a game changer.

2. Get Into the Word—It’s God Speaking to You!

I can’t stress this enough—if you want to grow in your faith, you’ve got to get into the Bible.

Seriously, it’s not just a dusty old book.

The Bible is alive!

It’s God’s direct message to you, filled with wisdom, encouragement, and guidance for every part of your life.

You don’t have to read chapters upon chapters every day.

Start small.

Read a few verses.

Reflect on them.

Let God speak to you through His Word, and watch how it transforms your heart. After all, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).

3. Serve Others—It’s Where Faith Meets Action

Jesus said, “I came to serve, not to be served” (Matthew 20:28).

So if we want to grow in faith, we’ve got to follow His example.

Serving others isn’t just about doing nice things—it’s about stepping outside of ourselves and living out our faith in a tangible way.

Volunteer at your church, help a neighbor, or just be there for someone who’s struggling. The beauty of serving?

It not only blesses others, but it changes you in the process. Your faith grows when you give without expecting anything in return.

4. Surround Yourself with People Who Push You Toward Jesus

You ever notice how some people just bring out the best in you?

That’s what you need when it comes to your faith.

Surround yourself with friends who encourage you, challenge you, and keep you accountable.

Faith isn’t meant to be lived out alone!

Join a small group, connect with a mentor, or simply spend time with people who are serious about following Christ.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17). Your faith will grow when you do life with others who are pursuing God just like you are.

5. Trust God When It Doesn’t Make Sense

Let’s get real—trusting God when life is smooth? Easy.

But trusting Him when the storm hits? That’s when real faith is tested.

When life doesn’t make sense, when you’re struggling, when everything seems to be falling apart—that’s when God is working the most.

He’s there in the middle of your mess, shaping you, strengthening you.

So don’t freak out when things get tough. Lean into Him. Remember, He’s promised to never leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Your faith grows stronger when you trust God through the storm.

6. Be Grateful—Even When It’s Hard

This one’s huge.

Gratitude changes everything.

When we focus on what God’s already done for us, it shifts our entire perspective.

Start each day by thanking God, even if things aren’t perfect. You’d be amazed at how quickly your heart can change when you begin to see life through the lens of gratitude.

Try it—grab a journal and jot down a few things you’re thankful for every day. It doesn’t have to be deep or profound—just the little things.

The more you practice gratitude, the more you’ll notice God’s hand in every part of your life.

7. Step Out in Faith—Even When You’re Scared

Here’s something we don’t talk about enough: faith grows when you take risks.

Sometimes, God calls us to step out of our comfort zones and do things that stretch us. It could be sharing your faith with a friend, volunteering in an area that’s new to you, or making a big life decision with nothing but God’s promise to guide you.

It’s scary!

But that’s where faith kicks in.

When you step out, even when you don’t have all the answers, you’re saying, “God, I trust You.”

And guess what?

That’s when you see God move in powerful ways. Remember, “without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).

Grow Your Faith Today!

Growing in faith isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about progress.

One step at a time.

One prayer at a time.

God’s not asking you to leap across a canyon; He’s asking you to take small, daily steps toward Him.

And you know what? Those small steps? They lead to big changes.

God’s got you.

He’s in your corner, cheering you on.

So let’s do this—let’s grow in faith together, trusting that the One who began a good work in us will carry it through to completion (Philippians 1:6).
