Friend, have you ever wondered what you’re truly worth in the eyes of God? It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and lose sight of how valuable we really are. We start seeking validation from all the wrong places—chasing after cheap love, shallow relationships, hollow accomplishments, and fleeting pleasures.
It’s a trap many fall into, inside and outside the church. I’ve been there too. But when we forget our true worth, we risk losing ourselves and drift further away from the One who values us most.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel like we’re just another face in the crowd, another number among billions of people. Yet, Jesus speaks directly to that feeling in Luke 12:6-7, and if you’re like me, these verses have a way of hitting home.
Let’s dive in.
“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:6-7)
When I first read these verses, I thought, “Sparrows? Really?” They’re so insignificant. In Christ’s time, five sparrows sold for two copper coins—literally worth less than a penny!
Can you imagine?
Sparrows were often the food of the poor. But Jesus is telling us something profound here. Even those sparrows, though tiny and cheap in the eyes of the world, are not forgotten by God.
If God remembers even the smallest, most insignificant creatures, how much more does He remember you?

A God Who Knows You Intimately
It’s easy to feel forgotten. Life can weigh us down with stress, trials, and heartache. We can start believing the lie that God has abandoned us, that He doesn’t care. But I’m here to remind you, as Luke 12:6-7 powerfully reveals, that nothing could be further from the truth.
Jesus says, “The very hairs of your head are all numbered.”
Think about that.
Who among us takes the time to count how many strands of hair we have? None of us do!
It’s a detail so insignificant that we don’t even think about it. Yet God cares enough to know. He has counted each one—not out of boredom, but out of love. He’s deeply invested in every little detail of your life.
To put this in perspective, did you know the average human has between 80,000 and 120,000 hairs on their head? (It varies by hair color, by the way—blondes have the most, while redheads have the least.)
But whether you’ve got 90,000 strands or 150,000, God knows. And that’s not the point—what really matters is that if He pays attention to something as trivial as your hair, how much more does He care about your pain, your dreams, and your worries?
When you feel lost, when you feel like no one notices, God does. He knows your struggles, your hopes, and everything in between.
Your Value Comes From God Alone
I think this is where we often get tripped up—we forget where our worth comes from.
The world will tell you that your value is based on what you achieve, how you look, or how others see you.
But Jesus tells us something entirely different: You are valuable because God says you are.
When we root our value in anything other than God’s love, we’ll always be searching for more. We’ll try to find worth in the approval of others, in career success, in relationships—but it will never be enough.
That’s why so many of us feel empty, even when we’ve checked all the boxes. But friend, you are worth more than you realize. You are worth more than sparrows, more than pennies, more than the world could ever offer.
Luke 12:6-7: God’s Love Is Constant
One thing I love about these verses is how they speak to God’s consistency. He remembers the sparrow, and He remembers you—not just on the good days, but on the bad ones too.
When you wake up in the morning, He sees you. When you’re tossing and turning at night, wrestling with your thoughts, He’s with you. When you’re at work, school, or just going through life’s motions, He hasn’t forgotten you.
I know it doesn’t always feel that way. Life gets hard, and we can’t always sense God’s presence. But here’s the thing: God’s love for you isn’t based on how you feel.
His care for you is constant, unchanging, and faithful. Even when it feels like He’s distant, He’s there.

Luke 12:6-7, So, What’s Next?
Maybe today, you needed this reminder. Maybe you’ve been feeling unworthy, forgotten, or overlooked. Let me tell you—God sees you. You matter to Him more than you’ll ever know. Your value doesn’t come from what you do or how others see you. It comes from the One who knows every detail of your life, down to the number of hairs on your head.
Next time you doubt your worth, remember this: If God takes notice of the smallest sparrow, how much more does He care for you? Lift your head up. You are loved. You are seen. You are of immeasurable worth to the Creator of the universe.
Trust in that truth, and let it transform the way you see yourself and the world around you. Let’s stop chasing after cheap validation and start resting in the fact that we are deeply loved and remembered by God.
