3 Definitions of sin [1-minute video]

Transcript

Have you ever asked yourself, “What is sin?” Most people would say sin is disobeying God. That’s actually correct, but did you know that there are at least three ways the Bible defines sin?

Number 1, Sin is the transgression of the Law.

We read in I John 3:4, in the King James Version,

“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”

Number 2, Sin is not doing what is good.

We read in James 4:17:

“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Number 3: Sin is whatever is not from Faith.

We read in Romans 14:23:

But he who doubts is condemned if he eats because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

These are the three basic definitions of sin found in the Bible. Knowing these definitions will help us to battle sin more effectively.
