Today’s reading: Isaiah 46:9-11

To proclaim and bring it to pass

We read in Isaiah 46:9-11:

9 Remember the former things of old,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure,’

11 … Indeed I have spoken it;
I will also bring it to pass.
I have purposed it;
I will also do it.

Yahweh has declared that He is the Supreme Creator and God of all gods. He is the only true living and powerful Creator and one of the proofs He used was knowing the end from the beginning.

It’s quite a powerful statement for a Being to proclaim something and have the power to make it pass!

Some people might be able to predict the future, but their prediction is bound to happen anyway. For Yahweh, He doesn’t simply predict it but He is the One who makes it happen!

Thus, it is not surprising that a huge part of the Scripture has to do with prophecy. We read a lot of fulfilled prophecies that prove the veracity of the Bible. Over and over again, prophecies are there for all of us to read.

Some prophecies were fulfilled in the letter with great accuracy. Some prophecies are unveiled right before our eyes.

Indeed, the Most High God is sovereign. No matter how hard we try to change the course of history, God’s “counsel shall stand.” He “will do all [His] pleasure.” What’s more, one of God’s pleasures is to give us His Kingdom.

No one can stop God from fulfilling what He has already declared. He has done it before and He will do it again today and in the future.

With all this in mind, we can all have the undying confidence to trust the Being that knows the ends and the future, the Being that can make predictions that will never fail, and the Being whose words are sure.
