Today’s reading: Colossians 2:1-3

Knit in love

We read in Colossians 2:1-3:

1 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

One of the important prayers of Paul is that the people of Yahweh would be knitted together in love. It is his prayer and should also be ours.

With so much hate, discrimination, and prejudice in this world, it’s not always easy to unite. Disunity seems to be the default.

However, in the Body of the Messiah, we must aim for unity and we can achieve that through love.

Unity in the church can’t be achieved through coercion. You can’t force everyone to stay united. If you do it against their will, the unity you achieve is just a house of cards that can easily be blown away.

For unity to stay strong, stable, and permanent, it must be done in love. It is love that we should make the foundation.

When we love each other, when love is the driving force of the actions that we have, when we selflessly serve others and put their welfare first, then unity is more achievable. Unity is closer than ever before.

Therefore, if you want to keep the unity within the church, you must encourage one another so that they start loving one another, serving one another, and thinking of one another.

When we put aside our differences, we can all be united and do our best to be one just as the Father and Yahshua as one.
