Today’s reading: Ephesians 6:10-13

The armor of God

We read in Ephesians 6:10-13:

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

We are commanded to put on the whole armor of God — not just a part of the armor, but the WHOLE armor. We can’t simply choose which armor we want to wear. We can’t say, “I’m just going to wear the breastplate of righteousness and forget about the helmet of salvation.” “I think I don’t need the shield of faith today.” “I can live with just the sword of the Spirit.”

No, we are commanded to take the whole armor of God.

It’s quite interesting that the armor is of God. It is not just armor that is from God, but it is actually what God is wearing (Isaiah 59:17). When we wear God’s armor, we are divinely protected and equipped for battling Satan.

God’s armor allows us to go against the devil. Without it, we will be vulnerable and can easily be defeated. We can’t win alone. We can’t win if we simply rely on ourselves. We must and should wear God’s armor as a demonstration of our complete surrender to the Almighty.

Since we are fighting a spiritual battle, our armor and weapon should also be spiritual. You can’t defeat Satan with guns and bombs or with physical strength. We need God to help us in fighting this spiritual battle.

Thankfully, victory is already claimed. At the end of it all, God will win and I hope and pray that we are all on God’s side on the day Yahshua returns here on the earth.
