Don’t stop halfway

We read in 2 Kings 10:28-29, 31:

28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal from Israel.

29 However Jehu did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin, that is, from the golden calves that were at Bethel and Dan…31 But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart; for he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, who had made Israel sin.

Jehu was a great military man who successfully killed a lot of his enemies, including the Baal worshippers. He had the zeal to follow God’s directives. He worked hard to remove all traces of Baal worship across Israel.

However, Jehu stopped there. It seems that Jehu didn’t have a real or strong relationship with God. He might have just followed the Almighty when it was in his best interest.

Thus, we read how he didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam. He retained the golden calves in his territory.

Notice as well that he didn’t walk in Yahweh’s law with all his heart.

Some people may allow God to use them but haven’t really had a strong relationship with Him. One good example is Jehu.

He stopped halfway. He was in the right direction, but he didn’t go all the way.

Our Messiah, Yahshua, commanded us in Mark 12:30:

30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’

Notice the word “all.”

Loving God and following Him don’t stop in the 50%, 60%, or 90%. It should be complete.

Loving the Almighty should be 100%.

We shouldn’t hold back. We should go all the way.

Loving God should be our top priority. That should reflect in our thoughts, words, and actions.
