Today’s reading: Genesis 43:9 |Genesis 44:18-34

Judah: a changed man

It’s quite interesting to study the life of Judah, Jacob’s fourth son. We know that it is through his lineage that King David would descend and later, for our Savior and King, Yahshua.

We read how Judah changed throughout the years. Perhaps, the thought of lying to his father for decades bothered his conscience.

Now, he was given a chance to amend his wrongdoing when they went to Egypt.

In Genesis 43:9, we read how Judah accepted full responsibility for Benjamin’s safety.

8 Then Judah said to Israel his father, “Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones. 9 I myself will be surety for him; from my hand you shall require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever. 10 For if we had not lingered, surely by now we would have returned this second time.”

Genesis 43:8-10

In Genesis 44:18-34, it was his pleading and explanation that eventually touched Joseph’s heart.

Remember that it was Judah who suggested selling his brother.

From a Judah who doesn’t care about his brother and father to a Judah who is now willing to give up his life to save Benjamin and assure his father Jacob.

Indeed, we are all a work in progress.

It’s never too late to change.

God works with us individually.

So, let’s not condemn one another.

Remember, they are a work in progress and so are you.
