The Bible tells us that we are to strive for perfection just like our Heavenly Father who is perfect (Matthew 5:48).

However, we need to realize that perfection is not achieved during this lifetime. As long as we are humans, we are and will commit mistakes and sins.

Now, here’s something you need to remember:

You don’t have to be perfect on the first day of your conversion. You don’t have to be perfect to start your journey toward God’s Kingdom. You don’t have to be perfect to be counted worthy to be called God’s child.

Nevertheless, while we might not be perfect on day one, we must be heading in that direction.

It means that day after day, we are striving for perfection.

We are growing.

We are maturing.

We are moving closer and closer toward the goal of developing God’s character.

We read in Ephesians 4:13-14:

13 … till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a PERFECT man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should NO longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting…

What the Apostle Paul is saying is that we must continually grow. We may stumble from time to time, but the important thing is that we continue walking toward our ultimate goal.

We don’t simply give up and quit and turn to other directions.

The way is forward.

The way is spiritual growth and maturity!
