This has been bothering me for quite a while now.
Actually, I was hesitant to share this, but I need your help.
I have done something that I believe is unchristian-like. It is something that should not be done by a follower of God.
And yes, I believe I sinned because of this.
My conscience is telling me that I should have NOT done it and going against my conscience is a dangerous road to take. Because it can eventually sear my conscience and I won’t be bothered anymore.
And yes, that’s what happened… It didn’t bother me for the past few months, but God did something to show me it isn’t proper, especially I’m doing His work.
So, what did I do?
As you may already know, I started using YouTube as a new avenue for me to reach more people and spread the Word of God.
In order for me to have a better video quality, I need to use software to edit my clips. At first, I used YouCut, which is a mobile application. It is free but has very limited features. This video was edited with YouCut and as you can see, the quality isn’t too good.
So, I decided to look for better software and that’s when I found Wondershare Filmora. The problem is the software’s not free.
A friend of mine told me I can get it for free. He taught me how to do it and so, I was amazed that it really worked.
To be honest, I was hesitant. I have been preaching and telling people in the past that using a cracked software version is a form of stealing. Not only that, but I’m doing something for the work of God and I feel it is not proper for me to use a cracked version in editing a video for the glory of God.
Yet… I proceeded.
I tried to justify my decision. I tell myself, it’s free and I don’t really earn from these videos and so, it’s okay. I told myself, maybe, I’ll just give it a try and will eventually buy the software when I have the money.
However, it’s been 2-3 months now, I’ve been using the cracked version of Filmora and as expected, Filmora detected my cracked software.
Now, I have two options:
- Use cracked software again.
- Buy the software.
BUT this time, I want to do the right thing.
I don’t want to steal this software anymore. There are people behind it who worked hard, sacrificed much of their time and resources, and have risked a lot of things, just to create Filmora.
And, it would be super unfair to them if I will just steal it by using cracked software.
The problem is, I don’t have the budget to buy the software. 🙁
