The One Big Reason People Are Not Healed

Have you ever wondered why some people are healed while others are not? While we can’t know the answer to every situation, the Bible reveals that there’s this one possible reason that keeps people from getting healed even if they have prayed about it.

To help us get a deeper understanding, let’s read about the lame man whom Jesus Christ (properly known as Yahshua) healed. John 5:1-9 tells us:

After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

Now, I want you to notice the question of our Savior here. He asked the lame man, “Do you want to be made well?”

Why on earth would Christ ask that question? Isn’t the answer obvious? Surely, everyone wants to get healed including this lame man, right?

Well, remember, Jesus is a discerner of the heart. He knows our intentions, thoughts, and motives. He knows exactly what we are thinking and feeling. Therefore, Yahshua knew very well that there’s something missing in this man.

So, He asked, “Do you want to get healed?” Now, notice this, the answer of the lame man reveals what’s truly in his heart. Instead of answering the question with a resounding, “Yes!”, he answered with an excuse!

In essence, he is saying that yes, he wants to get healed, but there’s no people here who are willing to help me!

Did you see that? Instead of looking unto Christ, the great Healer, he looked at other people. He focused on what other people could and couldn’t do for him.

From this story, we can see that sometimes, we might say that we want to get healed, but the truth is that our actions don’t match with what we are saying.

We want to be healthy, yet we don’t take care of our bodies. We want to be strong, yet we eat unhealthy food and drink toxic drinks. We want to improve our well-being, yet we don’t give our bodies and minds enough rest.
