What is the purpose of life according to the Bible?

Have you ever wondered what the purpose of life is? If yes, you’re not alone. The greatest thinkers, philosophers, kings, intellectuals, and even ordinary men have tried to answer this question through the centuries.

Sadly, most of them didn’t find the answer. Even if you look into the most famous preachers in Christianity today, they may think they know the purpose of life, but they won’t be able to give you an answer that is biblically true.

Would you like to know? Thankfully, you can and you should know the true purpose of life. I’m not going to give you an answer based on my opinion. I won’t give you an answer based on what people think. I won’t give you an answer based on some kind of research.

I’m here to give you the answer, straight from the Bible.

So, if you want to learn the truth, then read this blog until the end. As always, I will give you free resources so that you will learn more about this topic.

A world to come

Today, I want to share with you the answer, “What is the purpose of your life?”

To answer this question, we will not ask any philosopher, psychologist, or any experts. We will go straight to the Bible.

Our focus in today’s topic would be Hebrews 2:5-10.

Let’s read start reading:

5 For He [GOD] has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. —

Now, notice, the Apostle Paul, who is believed to have written Hebrews, was talking about a world to come. What is this world to come? This world to come is the one coming with the return of Jesus Christ or properly known as Yahshua the Messiah.

Notice, this world that will come will not be subject to angels. If not to the angels, who would it be subject to?

Why God is concerned about us

Let’s continue reading:

6 But one testified in a certain place, saying:

“What is man that You are mindful of him,
Or the son of man that You take care of him?
7 You have made him a little lower than the angels;

Now, that’s a good question. What is it in man that God is so concerned about? Why not be concerned about the dogs, the cats, the cows, the monkey, or any other animals? After all, Yahweh is the supreme Ruler of this vast universe. He is extremely powerful, way beyond our comprehension. Yet, why would He be so concerned about us, mortal, fragile, and weak human beings?

Top three Bible Books You Should Have

All things would be subjected to us

Although we are made of dust, we read here:

You have crowned him with glory and honor,
And set him over the works of Your hands.
8 You have put all things in subjection under his feet.”

For in that, He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him.

The Bible is actually telling us that all things would be under our feet. Once the last human being is made immortal and the plan of God’s salvation is complete, everything would be given to us. All things would be put in subjection under our feet!

So, you see, that includes the sun, the moon, the stars, and galaxies, and this vast universe. You might wonder why God created a universe that is so big that we can’t even wrap our minds around its vastness.

Why? Because God plans to give to us and we will then develop it in the future! We will not be in heaven forever staring at the face of God, playing harps, and lazily sleeping on the clouds. That’s satanic deception. Once we are given eternal life, we have a lot of work to do!

Becoming children of God

Now, let’s jump to verse 10. We read:

10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Friends, Yahweh is in the process of bringing many sons and by implication, daughters to glory. He is expanding His Family to include you and me. You and I are here because God is creating a bigger spiritual Family. The purpose of our life is to become sons and daughters of God. The purpose of our life is to prepare us for that glorious destiny that God has prepared for us.

What a wonderful, beautiful, and majestic truth that God has revealed to us. This is exactly the purpose of our lives. Satan hates his truth and he will do everything for us not to know this truth. That’s why you won’t hear this commonly taught in the churches today.

Live your true purpose today

Friends, I tell you, on average, we will only live on this earth for 26,298 days, which is based on the average lifespan of people here on earth, which is 72 years old. If you’re already 36 years old, you only have 13,149 days to go. Now, no one of us has the guarantee that we will still be here next week, next month, or next year.

Remember, brethren, you will spend more time in eternity than the time you spend here on earth. The 70 to 80 years of our human existence is just a blink of an eye compared to eternity.

Friends, my message for you today is that let us live our purpose. Don’t wait until you are old and gray. Don’t wait until you are on your deathbed. Live your purpose today.

Choose God’s Purpose

I want to ask you, is every decision you make now, bringing you closer to the Kingdom of God? Are you putting more importance on securing wealth? Are you putting more importance on your pleasure? Are you more concerned about how much you can get from this life rather than how much you can give? Are you more concerned about what people think rather than what God thinks? How much of your day are you spending fulfilling your purpose? How much of your day goes to prayer, meditation, and Bible study?

Brethren, this life is our training ground. Don’t you ever, ever commit the mistake of being so preoccupied with preparing your life here on earth that you forgot to prepare your life for the Kingdom of God.

At the end of it all, nothing matters in this life more than living out your purpose. You are not made to become the wealthiest person or most popular, powerful, and well-respected person on earth. You are made to become part of God’s Family.

May this reminder guide and help us to truly seek first the Kingdom of Yahweh and His righteousness. Friends, let me leave you with these five words that summarize this message: Live God’s Purpose for you.
