1. Halloween violates God’s commandment

It is no secret how Halloween originated in paganism. You can read any encyclopedia on this topic and you’ll soon read the dark history of Halloween. According to History.com,

Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated by the Celts 2,000 years ago in what is now Ireland, the UK, and northern France. The festival marked the end of summer and harvest and the beginning of winter, a season associated with death. The Celts believed that on October 31, the boundary between the living and the dead blurred, allowing ghosts to return to Earth. This belief led to the celebration of Samhain on that night.

So, there’s no question that Halloween is a pagan celebration. What  does the Bible say about pagan celebration? We read in Deuteronomy 12:29-32:

29 “When the LORD your God cuts off from before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you displace them and dwell in their land, 30 take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ 31 You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

32 “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.

With this in mind, the instruction of Yahweh is clear: we must not copy how pagans worship their gods. We shouldn’t follow their customs.

If you’re celebrating Halloween in any shape or form, then you are violating God’s clear command that we should not take any part in paganism and that includes Halloween.

When we celebrate Halloween, we are destroying ourselves spiritually by breaking God’s Law. When we break God’s Law, it breaks us. Don’t be deceived, celebrating Halloween will have its spiritual toll on you. Each ghostly costume and every pumpkin carving, when viewed through the lens of divine wisdom, becomes a step away from the righteous path.

2. Halloween allows Satan to get a foothold in your life

As Christians, we are taught to avoid Satan at all costs. We must not let Him get into our lives. We should do our best to overcome him.

So, why, then, do we willingly throw open the doors of our lives, allowing Satan a sinister foothold, particularly on Halloween night?

It’s a question that demands our attention. Why do we, as faithful followers, permit our families, our children, and ourselves to engage in a celebration that directly contradicts our fundamental beliefs? To confine our aversion to Satan to the rest of the year and then invite his presence on Halloween is not just perplexing; it’s utterly illogical.

The truth is, when we embrace Halloween and participate in its rituals, we’re unknowingly inviting Satan into our lives. It’s akin to leaving our defenses unguarded, like flinging open the gates to the devil himself.

The Bible clearly instructs us to avoid giving Satan a foothold. We read in Ephesians 4:26-27:

Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.

We’re explicitly warned against giving Satan any ground in our lives. Yet, by partaking in Halloween, we’re doing just that—granting him access, inadvertently compromising our spiritual fortitude.

Let’s recognize the significance of our choices. Let’s fortify our faith by rejecting Halloween and its dark influences. By standing firm, we preserve the sanctity of our beliefs, ensuring that our hearts and homes remain safe from the evil devices of the enemy.

3. Halloween dims your light

Yahshua or properly known as Jesus Christ, instructs every one of His followers to serve as a light to the world. We read in Matthew 5:14-16:

YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

When we celebrate Halloween, we are not serving as a light to the world. Halloween is in the dark. It is the work of Satan. We are choosing the dark side when we celebrate Halloween. It is like we are momentarily dimming our light or putting it out just to join this world in celebration of Halloween.

We must not do that. God has already called us out of darkness then why do we return to darkness every Halloween? Notice what Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:8-11:

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

Yes, we were once in darkness, but we are now called to walk in the light. How can we call ourselves children of light when we actively and passively accept Satan’s celebration of evil in the form of Halloween?

Paul’s instruction is unwavering: we are not to fellowship with darkness, but instead, we are to expose it. Halloween, with its roots in the occult and the demonic, stands in stark contrast to the light of God’s love and righteousness.

Final words

There you have it, dear friends – a glimpse into the sinister shadows that Halloween casts upon our spiritual journey. In a world where Halloween has become a widespread celebration, where even those closest to us might partake in its festivities, we are called to stand apart.

As a final scripture, let me leave you with this passage found in 1 Corinthians 10:20-22:

Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. YOU CANNOT DRINK THE CUP OF THE LORD AND THE CUP OF DEMONS; YOU CANNOT PARTAKE OF THE LORD’S TABLE AND OF THE TABLE OF DEMONS. Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

So, which cup will you raise to your lips? Will you choose the cup of God’s eternal love and divine grace, or will you unwittingly sip from the cup of demons, allowing their influence to seep into your life? It’s a choice you have to make, but I sincerely hope that you make the right decision. Don’t celebrate Halloween and you’ll be doing God’s will in your life.
