The Hidden Spiritual Danger of Little Sins

So many Christians today underestimate the danger of little sins. However, that should never be the case. If left unchecked, little sins are actually big sins that could easily destroy you in the long run. So, how dangerous are little sins? Discover the truth in this blog today!

Underestimating the small problems in life

Have you ever experienced when you underestimated something, thinking that it will not actually affect you negatively? Then, in turns out, it has grown into a big problem to the point that it has dramatically changed your life.

The same happens when we ignore little sins in our lives. Just to illustrate this to you, an old proverb about little things demonstrate perfectly my point. The title is, “For Want a Nail.”

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the message was lost.
For want of a message the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

A small error led to costly failure

In 1962, a small typo in a single line of code caused the failure of the Mariner 1 spacecraft, a NASA mission designed to explore Venus. The omission of a hyphen in the code led to incorrect guidance signals, resulting in the spacecraft veering off course just minutes after launch.

To prevent the potentially catastrophic consequences of a malfunctioning rocket, NASA had to destroy the Mariner 1, resulting in the loss of $18.5 million ($179 million in today’s dollars). This incident underscored the importance of meticulous attention to detail, even in seemingly minor aspects of a project.

A small speck of dust led to pain

Last Tuesday, I finally decided to build a bed frame extension since we can’t fit anymore in our previous bed. Since I want to learn more about carpentry, I chose to build the frame myself. What’s more, my brother-in-law gave me a circular saw and this is the perfect time for me to give it a try.

So, I went out, bought the materials, and set things up. First thing to do is cut the wood into the right size. So, I took out the circular saw and give it a try. I pointed the saw to the wood. Since this is my first time to use the saw, I just want to test it out first.

The first time I pushed the power button, a small piece of wood flew right to my right eye. That tiny speck of wood dust got stuck to my eye. I immediately went to my wife and asked her if she can remove the wood dust. To no avail, she can’t find it. So, I did what I know as a first aid. I washed my eyes. Blink rapidly. Rolled my eyes. Let my wife blow on my eye, but all these didn’t work.

Tiny speck that caused eye irritation with my finger for visualization.

I told my wife that maybe, it will just come off after sleeping through the night. At this time, my right eye is already red and heavily tearing up. So, the next morning came, I slowly opened my eyes, but the speck was still there.

Thankfully, I can still drive. So, I drove Viel and Caleb to school and went to our pastor and asked for help. He helped me washed my eyes. Sprayed water into it and try to flush out the dirt. However, all these didn’t work.

So, I asked our pastor for anointing. He prayed and laid his hands over me and ask God’s healing. At that point, I was determined to go to the hospital and have my eyes checked because no matter what we do, we can’t find the tiny speck and we have done all that we know.

If you just can imagine the feeling of having a speck stuck in your eye. My right eye is frequently teary. Every time I blink, I can feel the speck grating against my eyeball and eyelid. Every blink is painful and I can’t see properly. The tears also run down through my nose, which clogs it. Not only that but I can’t work properly anymore because of the discomfort, irritation, and pain I was feeling.

I remember before leaving HTV, our pastor told me, I hope that on your way to the doctor, the speck will just suddenly disappear. So, I left HTV, hopped into my car, and drove to MDMMRC. That was around 9:30 am in the morning. The receptionist told me to go to room 205 to see an ophthalmologist.

So, I went there and lo and behold, the doctor was not there. The assistant told me to go back at around 3:30 pm. I asked the assistant, how much would it normally cause to treat my problem. She told me, that would include eye examination, finding the speck or whatever that’s causing the problem with a microscope, and extraction — all procedure can reach up to 3,200 pesos ($187)!

I went home and told my wife about what happened. I told her I’ll just rest and go back to the doctor at around 3pm. At around 1 PM, I asked my wife to look at my eye again. At the back of my mind, it is useless since we have looked at my eyes several times and nothing. However, I just thought to give it a try once again.

Because of the increased natural light, my wife small a tiny brown speck of dirt. She grabbed a tissue and took out the speck. You can just imagine the great feeling of relief that I experienced after my first blink. The speck was gone and I can see clearly once again!

Looking back at my recent experience, it reminded me about how the seemingly small and insignificant things in life can sometimes cause the biggest discomfort. The same is true with the small sins in our lives. The bigger sins that we consider can easily be avoided. But the small sins? Those are the sins that can easily sneak into our lives.

Thus, today, I want to use my experience as an analogy to expound on the topic of small sins. In this message, I want to show you what small sins are, examples of small sins in the Bible, why small sins are dangerous, and most importantly, how we can overcome small sins.

What is the meaning of life free masterclass gif

What are small sins?

All sins, no matter what type of sins they might be, all sins has one ultimate penalty and that is death. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. Moreover, all sins transgress the law. When you break God’s law, then you sinned. Not only that, but no matter what sin you commit, it will separate you from God.

Some Christians believe that all sins are the same. They will tell you that there’s no such thing as small sins or big sins. However, this is not what the Bible tells us.

We read in John 19:11:

11 Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”

So compared to what Caesar did, his sin is less significant compared to the sin of the people who delivered Yahshua to Him.

Moreover, in the Old Testament or Hebrew writing, we read how certain sins are treated with greater penalties. In the same manner, today, the one who killed a person has greater penalty compared to the one who violated a traffic rule.

So, there’s certain smaller sins and greater sins in the Bible based on their consequences and seriousness.

Why are small sins dangerous?

The problem with small sins is that they are deceptive. We can easily dismiss small sins as something not really serious. What’s more, in our society today, small sins can sometimes be tolerated and even accepted!

One time, I saw a video of a person randomly interviewing women in the streets. The interviewer’s question is, “It is okay for your partner to watch porn?” And you know what, the overwhelming answer is yes!

Moreover, small sins can be so small that other people can’t see it. Just like the tiny speck in my eye, my wife had the trouble of finding it. Small sins are like that. Because people can’t see it, the person who is committing small sins would keep them hidden. There are even times when the sinner can’t even see his or her own small sins!

alone man person sadness about galatians 3:10-13
Small sins can make us blind, insensitive to sin, and tolerate sin.

Another problem with small sins is that you can easily rationalize it. We can quickly say, “Oh, I’m only human. I’m weak in this area.” Some people love the excuse, “Oh, as long as I’m not hurting other people, that’s okay.”

However, is sin really not that dangerous or serious? Is it something that we can just simply ignore? Let’s read what James or Yacob wrote in James 1:14-15:

14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. (Temptation itself isn’t sin. Yahshua was tempted by Satan, yet He didn’t sin. Having certain desires aren’t sin.

15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; (However, the problem is when you dwell on those desires and it become so strong that you gave in to the temptation. That’s when sin happens. )

And sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. (Notice, there are certain stages in sin. Sin starts small. However, the more you feed your sin, the more you take care of it, the more you do it, it grows and grows nad become bigger and ultimately, it will harm and destroy you both physically and spiritually.

So, don’t underestimate the negative power of small sins. When you finally notice how it is destroying you, it might already be too late.

If you don’t believe me, let’s go to the Bible and find examples of people who didn’t deal with their sins when they are still small. Let’s look at some examples as well when the sin seems to be so insignificant, yet the penalty was really great.

Examples of small sins in the Bible

1. Lot and His wife: the little sin of choosing the wrong crowd

Lot was the son of Abraham’s brother. Thus, Lot is Abraham’s nephew. There came a time when Lot and Abraham needs to separate from each other. Notice the progression of Lot’s compromise.

Lot fleeing from Sodom while his wife turned into a pillar of salt.
Lot fleeing from Sodom while his wife turned into a pillar of salt.

Genesis 13:10-11 tells us:

10 And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar. 11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other.

In this case, Lot was simply looking toward Sodom. He was just admiring the beauty of the land. However, look at verse 12: Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. Lot is moving closer and closer to Sodom.

Then, finally, in Genesis 19:1, we read:

1 Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground.

Did you see that, brethren? Lot was enticed to what Sodom has to offer. He can’t take his mind off of Sodom. He kept on imaging himself of what it was like to live in that city. So, from looking at Sodom, to just pitching his tent near Sodom, to actually living in Sodom, Lot put himself in a dangerous situation.

We know the story. Lot could have been one of those people destroyed by God if he hadn’t listened to God’s messenger. Thankfully, for Lot, he was able to overcome the small sins in his life at the last minute.

However, the story was different for his wife. We read in Genesis 19:24-26:

24 Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens. 25 So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Lot’s wife were not able to overcome those little compromises, those little sins in her life. She was so attached to Sodom that she looked back and disobeyed the final instruction to them. As a result, she lost her life and became a pillar of salt.

2. King David: the little sin of lustful thoughts

Another example of a person who let his little sins to get the best of him is King David. We read in 2 Samuel 11:1-5:

1 It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.

2 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold.

Now, let’s stop there for a while. David has a problem with women and let me tell you, from the perspective of a man, women can be one of our greatest weaknesses. Even before this incident, we know that David has the tendency to commit sexual immorality. He took more than one wife.

King David watching Bathsheba bathing from his palace
King David was a man who ruled Israel but he couldn’t rule his own lust.

So, looking at this incident, David should have already overcome his little sins of entertaining lustful thoughts. Yet, he didn’t and Satan capitalized on this.

Notice, David was supposed to be on the battlefield, fighting battles for God. Because David wasn’t in the place where God wants him to be, he exposed himself to spiritual danger.

Now, it is possible that this is not the first time that David saw Bathsheba bathing. It could be that he saw her before and he couldn’t take his mind off what he saw. So, in this one evening, he finally inquired who that woman was.

3 So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”

At that point, David should have aborted his evil plan. He should have not dwelt in his desire. The mere fact that this woman was the daughter of Eliam, a prominent leader in His Kingdom and wife of Uriah, a loyal soldier of David, he should have changed his mind. Yet, we read:

4 Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house. 5 And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.”

The rest of the story illustrates the progression of David’s sin. From lustful desire to adultery to murder and this is one of the biggest sins of David we read in the Scripture.

3. Moses: The little sin of anger

Now, let’s go to Moses’ little sin and led to serious consequences. We read in Numbers 20:7-12:

7 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 8 “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.” 9 So Moses took the rod from before the LORD as He commanded him.

10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” 11 Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.

If you read through this account, it seems that the punishment for Moses’ disobedience doesn’t match his sin. However, there’s more to it than meets the eye.

Moses striking the rock instead of speaking to it to get water for Israel.
Moses should have surrendered the anger he was bottling inside of him to God.

We know that Moses is considered to be the meekest or humblest man. We read in Numbers 12:3: 3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)

All the years of being exposed with Israel’s disobedience, complaining, and murmuring, Moses might have just bottled up inside him his anger towards God’s people. The little sin of Moses here is that he harbor some bitterness and unresolved frustration towards the people. Instead of dealing with these negative feelings immediately, he just kept it to himself. What he should have done is talk about it with God and let God help him with his problem.

The story in Numbers 20 could have been the last straw that broke the camel’s back for Moses. Notice, Yahweh simply said to bring out water by speaking to the rock. God didn’t instruct Moses to scold Israel with harsh and bitter pronouncements. Worst, he didn’t speak to the rock, but struck it!

We read in verse 12:

12 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

Moses’ sin in this situation was rooted in unbelief and disobedience. As a result, Moses was forbidden to enter the promised land.

4. Uzzah: the little sin of ignoring God’s instruction

Let’s read: 2 Samuel 6:1-7

1 Again David gathered all the choice men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, whose name is called by the Name, the LORD of Hosts, who dwells between the cherubim. 3 So they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart. 4 And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill, accompanying the ark of God; and Ahio went before the ark. 5 Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the LORD on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals.

Can you spot the many errors here? First off, the Ark of the Covenant should be carried, not put on a cart. Not only that but the ark should be carried by levites. The ark was designed to be carried (Exodus 25:12-15) and was only to be carried by Levites of the family of Kohath (Numbers 4:15).

Uzzah struck by God for touching the Ark of Covenant
What we think a small matter is actually a big matter to God.

6 And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. 7 Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God.

Reading through this account, you might think that God is harsh for killing Uzzah. After all, Uzzah simply wants to help. Yet, there is more to it than meets the eye. Uzzah wasn’t killed because he tried to help, but rather, of his attitude. He and other men deliberately ignored the instructions of God as we read in Numbers 4:15. No one was allowed to touch the holy things of God.

5. Achan: the little sin of covetousness

Joshua 7:19-25

19 Now Joshua said to Achan, “My son, I beg you, give glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession to Him, and tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me.”

20 And Achan answered Joshua and said, “Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and this is what I have done: 21 When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it.”

22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver under it. 23 And they took them from the midst of the tent, brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD. 24 Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them to the Valley of Achor. 25 And Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? The LORD will trouble you this day.” So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.

We see here how Achan’s small sin led not just to his own death, but also the death of his family. You see, Achan’s sin started small. Achan didn’t immediately turned into a covetous man when he saw the treasures and spoils. This has been his problem a long time now. So, when the right time comes, he gave in to his covetous desire.

Achan hiding the spoils he stole.
We may be able to hide from others, but not from God.

The same can also happen to us. Desire isn’t bad of itself, but if you that desire leads to sin, you are already coveting. What’s so bad about coveting? Coveting is so bad because it starts in the mind. Remember, the mind is the seat of our control. Whatever is control your mind, will control you.

If you are filled with envy, jealousy, and covetousness, you will eventually commit other sins. Covetousness can lead to lying, stealing, discontentment, and adultery. What’s more, coveting can become a form of idolatry when the desire for possessions or status takes precedence over one’s love and devotion to God. It shifts the focus from God as the ultimate source of satisfaction to the pursuit of worldly desires.

6. Ananias and Sapphira: the little sin of lying

Acts 5:1-11

1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession.

Ananias and Sapphira witnessed the generosity of Barnabas and how the people respected and admired him for his generosity. Ananias and Sapphira would like the same respect and so, they sold their possession. Here’s the problem:

2 And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. 6 And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.

7 Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?”

She said, “Yes, for so much.”

9 Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. 11 So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.

ananias and sapphira killed for lying against God.
Lying to God is a serious matter.

If you are a person who is not afraid to lie to God, then it is most likely lying is part of your life already. The problem with little lies is that they don’t immediately lead to negative effects. In fact, it leads to positive outcomes. Look at your classmates who cheat in their exams, they passed the test and get high grades. Look at government officials who steal money, they become rich. Look at some criminals, they lie and don’t get caught.

That’s the spiritual danger of lying. However, when you live a life of lie, you know that you are building a house of card. Your house is so fragile that a single mistake in your lie could cause your downfall because your foundation has been built on a lie.

So, don’t think that lying is just small and it won’t destroy you. It will and like Ananias and Saphira, they learned the hard way.

7. Cain: the little sin of envy

Genesis 4:1-8:

1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the LORD.” 2 Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

Cain has an attiude issue. He is short-tempered. He can easily be angered. He can be anger at the smallest things. What’s more, he was envious and jealous of Abel. God didn’t accept his offering, which is actually a big deal for Cain. Thus, in this case, Cain was just angry, but he was very angry — son angry that his countenance fell. In other words, he was so angry, that he became depressed.

cain striking abel and killed him.
Anger, envy, and selfishness are the ingredients for murder.

6 So the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

8 Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.

We can all be angry at times. Anger itself isn’t sin. The Bible tells us that God was angry. Anger becomes a sin when it turns you into a hateful person. When you always find yourself angry, you have to examine yourself and ask God’s help. The little sin of anger can be very dangerous.

Anger can change your mood and make your depressed. Anger can strain relationships. Anger can negatively affect your health. Anger can lead to making the wrong decisions in life. Even if your anger don’t end up in killing a person, it has long destroyed your life.

What are the little sins in your life?

Now, there are more examples in the Bible that talk about how some people ignored their little sins to the point that it led to their harm and even destruction.

What I want to ask you today is, what are the little sins in your life that you are harboring? What is the little sin that you still keep in your life, that you don’t seem to get rid of because you think it is something not serious?

All of us have little sins that we become so accustomed to that we don’t see the need to overcome them anymore. That’s why, let me just identify some of them and hopefully, we recognize their dangerous effect in our lives and find the will and help to finally remove them from our lives. In this list, I will also include little compromises because these little compromises could lead to sin.

  • Gossiping
  • Lying
  • Entertainment
  • Sabbath compromises
  • Lustful thoughts
  • Laziness (procrastination): Not working, slacking off at work
  • Negative speech (Murmuring, complaining, finding faults in others, being overly judgmental.
  • Discontentment
  • Lack of gratitude
  • Envy and jealousy
  • Worrying that leads to disbelief
  • Spending our time foolishly
  • Being a people-pleaser
  • Lack of forgiveness
  • Neglecting spiritual disciplines and duties: preaching the Gospel, prayer, bible study, fasting, and meditation

Now, I’m not giving you this list to condemn you. What I want is for us to look into ourselves and identify these little sins in our lives before it’s too late.

How to overcome little sins

Now that we have already discussed what little sins are and examples of little sins, it’s time we know how to overcome them.

1. Recognize your little sins

More often than not, we already know our little sins but we just don’t want to acknowledge and recognize them. By recognizing our sins, we recognize that little sins aren’t really little sins, but they are big sins waiting to grow. Recognizing little sins also involves understanding their destructive nature.

2. Pray to God for help

We need to recognize that we can’t overcome our little sins on our own. We need to ask God to help us recognize sins and tell us about those sins that we might have unknowingly committed. From there, we need to confess our sins and repent of them.

Don’t underestimate the power of prayer because it’s power comes from God. We ask for God’s guidance and strength. We need to pray long before we get tempted. From the start of your day, ask God to already help you and guide you in your thoughts, words, and actions. Don’t just pray when you are tempted. Pray even before the situation presents itself.

3. Study the Scripture

You can’t apply something you don’t know, right? That’s why, you need to first know what God wants in your life and you can do that by studying the Bible. Once you learned God’s word, that’s the time you can better apply His word in your life. You will have a better understanding of what sin is, its negative effect in your life, and most importantly, the Bible tells us how to overcome our little sins.

John 17:17 tells us, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” God’s word is truth. This is the truth and how do we get sanctified, we get sanctified by God’s word. Part of our sanctification is overcoming sins and that includes little sins. How are we supposed to overcome sin and get sanctified if we don’t read the word of God.

If you are just reading the Bible on the Sabbath, let me tell you, you will not be successful in your battle against little sins. The more you are filled with God’s word, the more the Holy Spirit will guide you and strengthen you. If you want to unlock supernatural help, then you need to pray to God and study His word.

Those are the best ways for you to overcome little sins in your life.

4. Persist in overcoming sin

Overcoming sin is never a one-time event. It’s actually a life-long process. You will never get to a point in your life where you don’t have to struggle with sin. Don’t give up. What’s important is that you’re struggling against sin. The problem happens when you stop overcoming, just let the little sin get a hold of your life, and you become comfortable with it. You don’t see any need to remove it from your life. When you do that brethren, I can tell you, with 100% certainty, that you will eventually reap the fruit of your little sins.

It’s important that you address little sins when they are still small, when they are still easier to overcome and manage. Don’t wait until the little sins turn into big sins that even if you could overcome these big signs, you will have to suffer its permanent consequences in your life.

Final words

With that, brethren, I hope I was able to open your eyes to the real danger of little sins. Yes, we need to realize that little sins are actually big sins. Don’t be deceived into thinking that just because these little sins have minor consequences or that most people can’t see it, you are already safe. No, that’s not how sins work.

Let me tell you, most often than not, little sins don’t stay little. They grow. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Control sin before it controls you. Overcome sin before it overcomes you. Destroy sin before it destroys you.

Let us remember what Jesus or properly known as Yahshua mentioned in Luke 16:10:

10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.

That summarizes all my points, brethren. If God can trust you with the little, then He can entrust the big things to you. If we can’t even overcome little sins in our lives brethren, how can we even overcome the big trials and difficulties in life?

Brethren, it is my sincerest hope that you and I would do our best to overcome little sins in our lives. We are not called to a life of complacency and comfort. We are called to overcome and strive for perfection. Let us not lose heart but rather, let’s have the strength, courage, and faith to live a life pleasing to God.
