Revelation 22:21 – 3 Powerful Lessons

A lot of people can easily recall the first sentence of the Bible, which is, “1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” However, most people would have a hard time remembering the Bible’s last sentence. While the beginning of the Bible is important as well as the whole content, we can also benefit from understanding what the last sentence of the Bible teaches.

So, let’s read Revelation 22:21 together:

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

A quick background of Revelation 22:21

Revelation 22:21 serves as the final verse in the entire Bible, concluding the Book of Revelation, which holds the distinction of being the last book in the New Testament. Revelation is best known for its apocalyptic imagery and prophetic messages concerning the end times, the return of Jesus Christ, and the establishment of God’s kingdom. As the concluding verse of the Bible, Revelation 22:21 carries significant weight.

Chapter 22 of Revelation describes the vision of a new heaven, a new earth, and the New Jerusalem. Revelation 22:21 represents a pivotal moment within this narrative, symbolizing the culmination of various warnings, promises, and blessings that are woven throughout the book.

The Book of Revelation is traditionally attributed to the Apostle John, who wrote it while in exile on the island of Patmos. Patmos, a small Greek island situated in the Aegean Sea off the western coast of present-day Turkey, served as the setting where John received his visions.

Revelation 22:21 serves as a benediction, invoking the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ (also known as Yahshua the Messiah) upon the readers. It reads, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”

Now that we have established a background understanding of Revelation 22:21, let us proceed to extract powerful lessons from it.

The 3 Powerful Lessons from Revelation 22:21

1. Revelation 22:21 is a reminder of God’s grace for us

The book of Revelation is primarily a prophetic book. It tells us about the coming destruction that would come upon this earth, destroying a significant part of the Earth along with the death of billions of people.

While Revelation is a gloomy book, it ends with a reminder of what will keep us at peace — God’s grace.

The grace of God is the unmerited favor of our Father toward us. We don’t deserve God’s favor and yet, He gives it to us because of His great love. God’s ultimate act of grace is when He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ (Yahshua the Messiah) to die for us.

Revelation 22:21 reminds us that we all need God’s grace. If it weren’t because of God’s grace, we would all die in our sins. Not only that but through God’s grace, we can overcome trials and difficulties in life.

That’s why, Revelation 22:21 is a wonderful benediction that hopes and prays that we all receive God’s grace. This leads us to the next point.

2. Revelation 22:21 serves as a closing prayer

Prayer is an important part of our Christian life. It is not something that is optional. It’s impossible to call yourself a follower of Christ without a regular prayer habit. (For more details, check out my FREE masterclass, “The 7 Indispensable Qualities of Highly Effective Prayers.”)

Revelation 22:21 teaches us that our prayers should always include a petition for the grace of Christ to be upon us. As the last sentence of the Bible, Revelation 22:21 teaches us that we must always conclude our plans and activities with a prayer. We shouldn’t just simply pray at the beginning of the day, but also at the closing of the day. As they say, “Prayer is the key that opens and closes our day.”

3. Revelation 22:21 serves as a source of hope and encouragement

Life is tough. Pain and suffering are a normal part of life. You can’t have life without death, happiness without sorrow, comfort without pain. It is just the way life is.

That’s why, without God’s grace, it is so easy to get discouraged. Without the vision of God’s love for us, we can quickly forget our life’s purpose and why we are here on earth.

Revelation 22:21 encourages us to always look to the Most High and His Son as a source of hope. This life might be difficult, but God promised that He will be there for us. Why? Because He is full of grace and He is for us. He will do what is best for us even at times when we don’t understand what we are going through.

When things get tough, we can always turn to Revelation 22:21 and remember that God’s grace is with us and that is more than enough for us to endure until the end!

Take to Heart the Message of Revelation 22:21

Revelation 22:21 is indeed the last verse of the Bible, but it certainly is not the least. It carries a message of hope, encouragement, and mercy for all those who hold on to the promises of Yahweh!
