Is Jesus dead? As Christians, we believe that He is alive and He is now sitting at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. However, most Christians today have a wrong understanding of death, heaven, and hell. That’s why, when confronted with baffling questions, most Christians won’t be able to answer this fundamental Question.

Recently, I watched a video of a man, who I assume to be an atheist, discussing the question, “Is Jesus dead?” with a pastor. You’ll notice that the atheist man actually has a point and because of our wrong concept of what happens after death, we can’t fully give an acceptable answer.

He asked the pastor, “Is Jesus dead?” To which the pastor said, “No, he is in heaven.” Atheist cleverly responded, “Well, He is dead, then.”

So, here’s the premise: When a good person dies, he goes to heaven. Jesus died and He went to heaven. Therefore, Jesus is dead.

So, how do we respond to this argument? Simple: when a good person dies, he doesn’t go to heaven. That’s actually one of the greatest satanic deceptions the world of Christianity believed.

Here’s the truth: when a good person dies, he doesn’t go to heaven, but rather, he stays in the grave waiting for the second coming of our Master, Yahshua the Messiah or popularly known as Jesus Christ.

Notice what our Master, Himself, said in John 5:28-29:

²⁸ Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice ²⁹ and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

So, the Bible shows us that the righteous people are not in heaven. They are in the grave waiting for the resurrection. What’s the point of being in heaven already when in the future, God will resurrect you again into a spiritual being, right? It’s not just illogical, but it is actually absurd.

Christ, Himself said in John 3:13:

¹³ No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

As you can see, no one has ascended to heaven. The only one who went up to heaven is no other than Yahshua the Messiah.

Going back to the video I shared with you, the atheist man is correct if we are talking about the traditional Christian teaching about heaven. However, the atheist man is clearly and gravely wrong if we are talking about the biblical truth about heaven.

Yes, Christ died but He didn’t remain in the grave, He is actually in heaven now and no, the dead righteous people are not in heaven. The righteous are still in the grave waiting for the second resurrection.
