How Much Does God Love You?

Have you ever thought how much valuable you are in the eyes of God? Now, so many people go on with their lives without actually knowing their true worth. Thus, they go out there finding cheap love, cheap relationships, cheap accomplishments, cheap respect from others, and even cheap pleasures in their lives. Don’t just think that this problem is simply a problem outside of our church. Rather, you and I can also, more often than not, forget how precious we are to God.

I believe this is an important topic for this short message because there’s a great danger when we forget our true worth. When we forget who we really are in the eyes of God, we can lose our true purpose. When we forget how much God values us, we will look for that value in other sources, more often than not, these sources will lead us astray. Not only that, but eventually, we will drift farther and farther away from God.

God Remembers the Least of His Creation

Thus, let’s go through the word of God and discover how valuable we really are in God’s eyes. Let’s turn to Luke 12:6-7:

6 “Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Five sparrows are worth 2 copper coins, which is about 1 penny or 1 peso in our currency. This gives us 20 centavos for 1 sparrow. Now, it’s kind of difficult to give an accurate estimate, but the point here is that sparrows are so cheap during Christ’s time that they are sold by pair or in this case, by five. Sparrows are known as the food of the poor.

So, what does this tell us? It tells us that even the cheapest among the birds, God still remembers them. Just the other day, I walked outside of our house and found a dead pigeon. I know it’s not a sparrow, but I’m sure that even God didn’t forget about that dead dove. This made me think, how many sparrows, how many doves, or how many birds die every day? Have you ever asked yourself that question? Obviously, no. Who cares, they are sparrows. They are insignificant. Yet, God remembers them.

Now, here’s the question for you, if God remembers the sparrow, how much more would He remember you, His children?

Sometimes, in our hardships, in our trials and tribulations, we tend to believe that God has already forgotten us. God doesn’t love me anymore. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t see my affliction. Well, let me tell you, brethren, God remembers you. He remembers you when you wake up. He remembers you when you lie down to sleep. He remembers you when you eat, go to work or school when you are sick when you are in distress, when you are in pain and sorrow. He remembers you!

So, don’t you ever think that God has forgotten you? He is always there for us. We may not feel it, but you know what, the good news is that God’s presence is not based on our feelings. He loves you and He cares for you.

God Numbered Our Hair

Now, look at this: Luke 12:7 tells us, “but the very hairs of your head are all numbered!” Who among you have stopped and asked, how many strands of hair have I left today? Let me count them one by one. No one does that or if there’s anyone who have done that, maybe he has a lot of time but normally, no one does that. But God does. He knows how much hair you have.

Typically, a healthy human scalp boasts an average of 80,000 to 120,000 hairs. However, this number can vary, with hair color playing a role. Blonde hair tends to have the highest count, reaching around 150,000 hairs. Brown hair usually falls around 110,000, while black hair averages at 100,000, and red hair tends to have the lowest count at approximately 90,000 hairs.

Now, that’s a lot. For the sake of giving you an example, let’s just say, the average number of hair on people’s scalp is 100,000. In this room, we are about 20 people. Can anyone of you say who has 87,965 strands of hair? Even if you have guessed correctly, you will be wrong in just a matter of minutes or hours because we lose 50 to 100 strands of hair every day.

What does this tell us? It tells us that God is constantly thinking about it. The number of our hair is perhaps the most trivial count in our body. No one really cares about counting them, yet God counts them not because He is boring or He has nothing to do with His eternal existence, but to prove to us that He knows even the smallest details of our lives!

If God knows the number of your hair, do you think He doesn’t know your problem? Do you think He doesn’t know your hopes and dreams? Do you think He doesn’t know how you feel right now? Do you think He doesn’t know what you prayed for last night?

God Remembers Us All the Time

I hope that you’re now seeing how valuable you are. But that’s not where it ends. Notice what King David wrote in Psalms 139:17-18:

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.

How many times does God think of you? As many times as the number of the sand on earth. Think about it for a second: go to any beach on Samal Island, with its white and grainy sand. Can you count them? Of course not! Now, that is just the grains of sand in Samal. How about the grains of sand in Boracay, Siargao, El Nido, and in every beach in the world? How about the grains of sand in the desert and even in the golf course? Scientists and experts approximate that Earth is home to approximately 7.5 sextillion grains of sand, a staggering number represented by 75 followed by 17 zeros.

Now, that’s how much God thinks of you. Are you now seeing how much God cares for you, how much valuable you are in His sight?

I think of my wife often every day. I think of my son every day. However, I would never dare to say that I think of them as many times as the number of the sand. This tells you that even the person who loves you the most, that person’s love, is nothing compared to the love of God for you.

God Gave Us His Son

Now, I think the most powerful proof of God’s love for us is the price He has to pay to redeem us from our sins. To put it into perspective, we price commodities based on their perceived value. Would you be selling your smartphone for only 50 pesos? Would you be selling your car for just 500 pesos? Would you be selling your house for just 50,000 pesos? Surely, because you value those things, you’ll sell them for a higher price.

In the same way, God paid for the penalty of sin with the life of His Son! Our worth is equivalent to that of His Son. Do you think if there’s only one sinner in the world, do you think Christ would still die for that person? Of course, He will.

God Loves Us as Much as He Loves His Son

I want to leave you with this powerful verse. I have been reading this verse a couple of times, but only this time that it has an entirely new meaning for me. John 17:23 tells us:

I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

Did you see that, God the Father, Yahweh El Elyon, loves us, He loves you and me, in the same way that He loved Yahshua. I don’t know about you brethren, but this just excites me to the core, knowing that God the Father loves me so much that He was willing to sacrifice His only begotten Son for us.

I love my son, Caleb. I also love other children but not as much as I love my own son. I can’t honestly tell you that I will love another child as much as I love Caleb. There’s always a difference. Yet, Christ is telling us that our Father in heaven loved us as much as He loved Yahshua.

God Loves You

I know, you have heard it or have read it so many times, “God loves you.” It has been repeated so many times that it has lost its deep meaning, but I hope, through this message, brethren, has given a brand new life to that statement because God loves you so much that He knows every waking and sleeping moment of your life. He knows even the smallest details of your life.

He thinks of you as many times as the grains of the sand and He loves you so much that He has given us, Yahshua. With that, I hope you never ever forget that Yahweh loves you and no matter what you’re going through right now, know that He has not forgotten you and He will surely be with you.
