All in the Name of Tolerance and Unity

The idea that Jews, Christians, and Muslims worship the same God often comes from a place of wanting to promote tolerance and unity. It’s a perspective that seems to be the culmination of humanity’s long struggle for understanding and peace, especially after centuries filled with hatred, bigotry, pogroms, forced conversions, and inquisitions.

This “enlightened” view is appealing because it suggests that at their core, these three major faiths are not so different after all. It’s a hopeful idea that maybe, despite all the historical and theological differences, we can find common ground and see each other as brothers and sisters.

But when we dive into the specifics of each religion’s beliefs about God, we find significant differences. For instance, Judaism sees God as a singular, indivisible entity. Mainstream Christianity introduces the concept of the Trinity, where God is one being in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Islam, on the other hand, emphasizes the oneness of Allah, rejecting the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus.

These differences aren’t just minor details—they’re foundational to each faith. They shape how followers of each religion understand God, worship, and seek salvation. So, while the idea of shared worship can be a beautiful vision for interfaith harmony, the distinct beliefs each religion holds about God make it clear that they don’t worship the same God in the same way.

4 Reasons Jews, Christians, and Muslims do NOT worship the same God

As we can see, Jews, Christians, and Muslims don’t worship the same God. People who claim that there are many paths to God are blind to the fact that these religions have conflicting traditions, beliefs, and practices, which make it impossible to arrive to the conclusion that every religion leads to God.

To make it clearer, here are 4 reasons why Jews, Christians, and Muslims don’t worship the same God:

1. Difference in the Concept of God

  • Judaism: God (Yahweh) is strictly one, indivisible, and cannot be incarnated.
  • Mainstream Christianity: God is one but exists in three persons (the Trinity): the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. (The Doctrine of Trinity is actually non-biblical. Here are the reasons why.)
  • Islam: God (Allah) is one, indivisible, and unique, rejecting the concept of the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus.

2. Revelation and Scriptures

  • Judaism: Follows the Torah and the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh).
  • Christianity: Follows both the Old Testament and the New Testament, which includes the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • Islam: Follows the Quran, which is considered the final and most complete revelation from God, superseding previous scriptures.

3. Jesus Christ

  • Judaism: Does not consider Jesus a divine figure or the Messiah.
  • Mainstream Christianity: Believes Jesus is the Son of God, part of the Trinity, and the savior of humanity.
  • Islam: Regards Jesus (Isa) as a great prophet but not divine; rejects his crucifixion and resurrection as acts of divinity.

4. Salvation

  • Judaism: Achieved through faith in God, following His laws (Torah), and performing good deeds.
  • Christianity: Attained through faith in Jesus Christ as the savior, who atoned for humanity’s sins.
  • Islam: Obtained through submission to the will of Allah, following the Five Pillars of Islam, and leading a righteous life as prescribed by the Quran and Hadith.

These fundamental differences in theology, scriptures, the role of Jesus, and the path to salvation illustrate that Jews, Christians, and Muslims worship distinct concepts of God.

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam: Which One is the True Religion?

As you can see, Jews, Christians, and Muslims don’t worship the same God. So, which one is the correct religion?

The one true religion is the one that we read in the Scripture. It is the religion that reflects the true teaching of God’s word. Sadly, mainstream Christianity today has departed from the faith that was once delivered to the saints. They turned the Sabbath into Sunday worship. They keep worldly religious holidays such as Christmas and Easter, which are not found in the Bible while ignoring God’s appointed Holy Days.

Christianity today is not what we actually read in the Bible.

However, Biblical Christianity tells us that the path to God is no other than Yahshua the Messiah (popularly known as Jesus Christ). We read:

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

Jews and Muslims reject the divinity of Yahshua. Not only that, we read:

12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

So, there’s no doubt: true Christians believe the only way to salvation is Jesus (Yahshua) and God the Father, Yahweh the Most High, saves the whole world through His Son (John 3:16).
