Harnessing the Power of Consistency

Today, I want to talk about the power of consistency when it comes to our work and why it must be part of our core values.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, consistency means “the state or condition of always happening or behaving in the same way.” A very simple definition and yet, very profound meaning for us.

Consistency is among the most powerful tools that we can all use when it comes to becoming successful in our work here on Finder. Whatever your job or task might be, whether you are answering comments, handling chats, creating reports, or managing a team, you will soon see that consistency will determine whether you will be successful or not.

Best Quotes about Consistency

Tony Robbins, the highest paid motivational speaker worldwide, has this to say about consistency.

“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently”.

Michael Jordan, probably the best basketball player in the world, said this:

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been entrusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

Aristotle, considered by many as the greatest Greek philosopher, mentioned this:

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit”.

Even the Bible tells us in Galatians 6:9:

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” In short, we must be consistent in our work.

Why is consistency important?

Why do we need to be consistent? Because the prizes in life are at the end of each journey.

It is never found at the beginning.

You don’t get a price for starting a race.

We will never know how close we are to gaining success if we give up.

Bear this in mind, the best view is found on top of the mountain.

Again, why do we need to be consistent? Because consistency builds your reputation.

If you want to be taken seriously, you need to be consistent. A single great act done only once will only last for a few days and months. But it will not last for too long. It is only through consistent actions, even if it is small, will make a big difference. Because even consistent but small efforts, when gathered together, will become great

Remember this, no one likes to work with an inconsistent, unreliable, and unpredictable individual. We have seen these individuals in the past and they are not with us anymore.

Consistency as a way of life

What am I telling you? I’m saying that our thoughts, words, and actions must be so consistent to the point that consistency is how people define us.

Of course, I want to make sure you don’t misunderstand me. When I say being consistent, I mean being consistent in doing the right things.

You know why? Because if you are consistent in doing a poor job, then you will get poor results. If you are consistent in doing the job right, then you will attain better results.

Here’s how Og Mandino in his book, Greatest Salesman in the World, beautifully describes consistency.

“Henceforth, I will consider each day’s effort as but one blow of my blade against a mighty oak. The first blow may cause not a tremor in the wood, nor the second, nor the third. Each blow, of itself, may be trifling, and seem of no consequence. Yet from childish swipes the oak will eventually tumble. So it will be with my efforts of today.

I will be likened to the rain drop which washes away the mountain; the ant who devours a tiger; the star which brightens the earth; the slave who builds a pyramid. I will build my castle one brick at a time for I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking.”

So you see, success is not something you achieve overnight. When you look at the big corporations, famous athletes, and successful people, luck has nothing to do with it. It was their hard-work, dedication, persistence, and most importantly, consistency that helped them achieve greatness.

Consistency leads to success

Success is no accident.

It happens because of the decision you make to do something over and over and over again until you reach your goal. It is consistent habits that will put you on top of your league.

Take note of this: what you are today is the result of the decisions you made in the past. What you are tomorrow will be the result of what you will decide to do now.

My question for you is this: Does your decision and consistent actions today will bring you closer to your goal tomorrow? Will you harness the power of consistency and use it to your advantage? OR Will you be just like ordinary people who don’t have the guts, the motivation, and drive to be consistent in their actions?

Let us rise up to the challenge. Any dead fish can swim down the stream, but it takes a live fish to go against the river. friends, I call on you to harness the power of consistency. The power is within us. Use it, wield it like a sword that was used to conquer kingdoms and empires. Be consistent and you will ultimately reap its sweet rewards. Let me say it again, BE CONSISTENT!
