We’ve all been there.
That day when nothing goes right. The plans you made crumble. The people you counted on disappoint you. The weight on your shoulders feels heavier than ever.
In those moments, joy feels… impossible.
🛑 The Bible talks a lot about joy, and it could dramatically change the way you live your life. Thus, I highly recommend you read my blog, “10 Most Important Bible Verses About Joy.”
But here’s something I’ve learned: joy isn’t always about what is happening around you. Sometimes, it’s about what you choose to hold onto inside you. And that’s exactly why this one Bible verse has the power to turn even your worst day into a day of joy.
It’s found in Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NKJV):
“Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
Did you catch that?
Habakkuk lists everything going wrong. No crops. No food. No animals. Nothing to hold onto. It’s a picture of total loss and emptiness.
And yet… he chooses joy.
Not because the problems are gone. Not because life suddenly turned around. But because Yahweh Himself is the source of his joy.
This is so countercultural. We’re trained to believe joy comes from good circumstances—vacations, promotions, answered prayers, smooth relationships. But this verse shouts a different truth:
Your joy doesn’t have to wait for life to be perfect.
On your worst day, you can still say, “I will rejoice in the LORD.” Why? Because His love hasn’t changed. His promises still stand. His salvation is still yours. And nothing—absolutely nothing—can take that away.
Think about it. If your joy is tied to the things of this world, it’s fragile. A bad report from the doctor, a betrayal, or a sudden loss can snatch it in seconds. But if your joy is anchored in Yahweh, it’s unshakable.
So, the next time your world feels like it’s falling apart, remember Habakkuk’s words. Speak them over your life. Choose to rejoice—not because life is perfect, but because your God is.
This isn’t just positive thinking. This is faith. Faith that sees beyond the pain. Faith that remembers Who is still on the throne. Faith that says, “Even here… I will praise You.”
Friend, your worst day might still hurt. It might still bring tears. But in Yahweh, even in that valley, you can find a joy the world can’t touch.
And once you discover that kind of joy… you’ll never see bad days the same way again.
