The No. 1 Mindset Christians Need for a Stronger Faith

Are you wondering how you can have a stronger faith? If yes, then you need to develop the right mindset. But, which mindset should it be? That’s what you will learn today!

Let’s face it—life isn’t easy.

As Christians, we’ve all had moments where our faith felt weak.

Those times when the weight of the world seemed unbearable, and the presence of God felt distant, maybe even absent.

You pray, but it feels like the ceiling has turned to stone. You read the Bible, but it feels like words on a page.

But what if I told you there’s a mindset that can turn things around—a perspective that could be the key to reigniting your faith, making it stronger than you’ve ever imagined?

Here’s the truth: the No. 1 mindset Christians need for a stronger faith is a mindset of surrender.

Now, before you think this is about giving up, hear me out.

Surrendering to God is not about defeat—it’s about victory.

It’s about releasing control and letting the One who truly holds the universe in His hands take charge.

And let me tell you, the freedom that comes with surrender is the most empowering thing you’ll ever experience.

We’re Wired for Control

We live in a world that glorifies control.

Every day, we’re bombarded with messages telling us to take control of our lives—control your future, your career, your relationships, your finances.

But the truth is, control is an illusion. No matter how hard we try, we can’t control everything.

And honestly? That’s terrifying.

But that’s where faith comes in. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith is about trusting God for what you cannot see, and it’s impossible to trust Him if we’re constantly holding on to our illusion of control.

Real faith begins when we surrender that control to God.

Surrender is Hard, but It’s Necessary

Look, I get it—surrendering isn’t easy.

We like having a sense of control because it makes us feel safe.

But the problem is, when we cling to control, we limit what God can do in our lives. We’re essentially saying, “I know better, God. Let me handle this.”

That’s pride talking.

And let me tell you—pride is one of the biggest faith killers.

Remember Proverbs 3:5-6? It says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

This verse isn’t suggesting we trust God for a few things. It’s commanding us to trust Him with everything.

We can’t lean on our own understanding if we’ve surrendered control. We can’t let God direct our paths if we’re still holding the map, trying to decide the route.

Surrender is about letting go of our understanding, our plans, our fears, and allowing God to work in ways we can’t even imagine.

Jesus Modeled Surrender

Think about Jesus (properly known as Yahshua).

In the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed one of the most vulnerable prayers ever recorded in the Bible. “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42).

Even Jesus, the Son of God, surrendered to the will of the Father.

He could have chosen a different path. He could have walked away from the cross. But He knew that surrendering to God’s will was the only way to fulfill His purpose.

If Jesus, who was perfect, needed to surrender, how much more do we?

The Power of Letting Go

Here’s the beautiful thing: When you surrender, you make room for God to show up in ways you’ve never experienced before.

Your faith begins to grow because you’re no longer relying on your own strength, but on His. You stop seeing challenges as obstacles and start seeing them as opportunities for God to reveal His power.

And let me tell you, when you start seeing life through the lens of surrender, everything changes.

The things that used to stress you out?

They don’t have the same hold on you anymore. You start to trust God’s timing, His plans, and His ways, even when they don’t make sense.

When you embrace a mindset of surrender, your faith becomes unshakable.

It’s no longer dependent on your circumstances or your ability to control outcomes. It’s anchored in the unwavering belief that God is good, God is faithful, and God is in control.

How Do You Get There?

You might be wondering, “Okay, but how do I develop this mindset of surrender?”

Start small.

Maybe it’s a relationship you’re trying to control.

Maybe it’s your career.

Maybe it’s a situation with your health.

Take one step toward surrendering it to God.

Pray about it.

Ask Him to give you the courage to let go, and then trust that He will lead you where you need to go.

It won’t happen overnight.

But every time you surrender a little more, your faith gets stronger. And before you know it, you’ll find yourself living with a peace that surpasses all understanding, just like Philippians 4:7 promises.

Stronger Faith is Possible

Friend, I know life can feel overwhelming.

I know there are times when your faith feels weak and your struggles feel too big.

But let me encourage you—surrender is the secret to a stronger faith.

It’s the mindset that will take you from barely hanging on to thriving in your walk with God.

So today, ask yourself: What’s holding you back from surrendering to God?

What areas of your life are you still trying to control?

Whatever it is, take it to God.

Let Him carry it for you.

He’s got you.

And when you surrender, you’ll discover that the faith you’ve been longing for has been there all along, just waiting to grow.
