There’s a pervasive belief today that tells you that when we die, we become angels. We see this in novels, movies, and even in churches. In some versions, they tell you that when a baby or young child dies, he or she goes to heaven and turns into a guardian angel.
Is this true? To set the record straight, you won’t find any Bible verse, from Genesis to Revelation, that says a human being became an angel.
On the contrary, when a person dies, he or she will stay in the grave until the resurrection of the dead happens.
We read in John 3:13:
13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
The bible is clear. We don’t go to heaven and turn into angels when we die. Human beings are different from angels. Human beings have the potential to be part of God’s family. Angels don’t have that.
