What was nailed to the cross? [1-minute video]

Transcript

We read in Colossians 2:14:

“Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”

A lot of Christians today would read that and conclude that the laws of God has been nailed to the cross and therefore, rendered powerless and not relevant anymore.

Nothing can be further than the truth. The Greek word for “handwriting of requirements” is cheriographon tois dogmasin, which means “a strict handwritten document which is used in legal matters as a promissory note, record of indebtedness, bond.”

In short, the handwriting of requirements is the RECORD OF OUR CHARGES or the RECORD OF OUR sins.

This tells us that it is our record of sin that was nailed to the cross. It was never the law of God.
