Today’s reading: Romans 8:9

The mark of a true believer

We read in Romans 8:9:

⁹ But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

The most important mark of a true believer in the Ruach HaKodesh or the Holy Spirit. Without the set-apart spirit, we are simply operating on our own.

We receive the Holy Spirit upon our baptism and the laying on of hands. This shows us the magnitude and importance of getting baptized.

However, we must also remember that not all baptisms are inspired and acknowledged by God. Some people were baptized when they were babies or when they were too young to understand the significance of their baptism. Some people are baptized by the wrong people.

Some were baptized but there’s no laying on of hands. Some might even get baptized without really understanding the full meaning of the commitment they have done.

That’s why, when a person is baptized, it is through the fruits of his work that the presence of the Holy Spirit is confirmed.

As Christ said, “You will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16). And what should be our fruits?

We read:

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Galatians 5:22

Sadly, so many people believe that they have the Holy Spirit when in reality, they don’t. Thus, it is a must that we make sure that we truly have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us and produce its fruits in our lives.

So, if you want to be a true believer of Yahshua, then you’ve got to have the Holy Spirit.
