Today’s reading: Psalms 35:3

“Roll your way to God”

We read in Psalms 37:5:

5 Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.

The word commit in Psalm 37:5 is quite interesting. The Hebrew word for commit is galal, which means to “roll off onto.”

Thus, when you say you commit your way to Yahweh, it means you roll off your way onto His way.

To better understand it, imagine your path is made up of a red carpet. What you do is roll your carpet. Take it with you and then, you stand before the way of God and roll your red carpet on His way!

That’s what it means to commit your way to God. It means that you make your way God’s way. You do your best to mold your way to God’s way of life. You make sure that in every decision you make, you are trying to discern what God wants you to do. In short, it is no longer about what I want in life, but what God wants in my life.

Committing your way to Yahweh also means surrendering your life to Him. It means you give up every aspect of your life in His loving hands. You give to God your hopes, dreams, plans, aspirations, struggles, problems, and even your daily concerns in life.

Committing your way to Yahweh involves trusting in Him. You can’t fully commit to God without putting your trust in His supreme and omnipotent power and love. Commitment and trust go hand in hand.

So, the question now is, which path are you taking right now? Have you already rolled your way on God’s way?
