Today’s reading: Deuteronomy 30:19

Choose life

We read in Deuteronomy 30:19:

19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

Life is full of choices.

Every day, we are faced with various options. Every option is unique and will lead in different directions.

In the grand scheme of things, God wants us to choose life.

In the days of the Israelites, they were given a choice β€” life or death, blessing or cursing. Moses, talking on behalf of the Father, told the Israelites to choose life.

The Almighty will not force anyone to follow Him. However, his great desire is for us to make the right choice, which is to choose life.

The answer is given. We know the correct choice.

The problem is really not knowing what to do, but choosing to do the right action.

That’s where our human nature can easily lead us astray.

Just like the Israelites, they know what they should do, but they didn’t choose to do it.

Today, we are also given the same choices β€” life or death.

Thankfully, we don’t have to do this alone.

With the help of God’s set-apart Spirit, we are given the divine power we need to make the right choice.

So, if given the option, choose life.

It is not the only right choice, but also the best choice you can make.
