Are you a person who loves buying books but actually not reading them? If this is you, you might be unintentionally engaging in tsundoku.

Tsundoku is a Japanese word that came from two compound words:

• Doku – reading
• Tsun – to pile up

Tsundoku refers to a person who owns a lot of unread books and literature. It’s buying reading materials, storing them all in one place, but never having the time to start or finish reading them.

Are you a Tsundoku?

I hope not when it comes to the word of God.

We must develop the habit of reading the Bible and ensuring that we live by its words.

You see, there are some people who actually buy expensive Bibles. Some of them also buy commentaries, Christian books, devotionals, and religious magazines.

The problem is once the novelty wears out, they simply let their Bibles collect dust. While the intention is there to read the Bible, it is NEVER enough to simply have a Bible and not read them.

Not only that but we must not simply stop reading, but also strive to live by every word of God.

We read in Matthew 4:4:

⁴ But He answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

How can you know the word of God if you don’t read it?

How can you apply the word of God if you don’t know it?

Knowing God starts by reading His word and I hope you don’t take for granted your Bible and simply not go through it.
