What did you learn from the movie War Room (2015)?

Why you should watch the War Room movie
This is why you should watch the War Room movie.

Powerful. Moving. Inspiring.

Those are the words I would use to describe the movie, War Room.

I highly recommend this movie and would like every Christian (and even non-Christians) to watch it.

I have learned a lot of lessons from this movie. For lack of time, let me just share some of them here:

Lesson no. 1: We fight on our knees

Prayer is the highest privilege given to man. Through prayer, we can talk to the most Powerful and Supreme Being in the vast universe.

We are up against a strong spiritual enemy and it is certain that we will fail without the help of God. We can always ask God for divine intervention and let Him fight our battles for us.

Lesson no. 2: Do what is right no matter what the consequences may be.

There’s a scene in the movie where Tony has to choose between two options. One is doing the right thing and the other is doing the easy thing.

As Christians, we are commanded to do the right thing no matter what the consequences may be. It is true that doing the right thing will not always lead to pleasant results.

However, as long as we are doing our best, God will be there to help us. Tony made the right decision and through God’s grace, he was able to overcome his trials.

This reminds me of what Peter wrote in I Peter 2:19–20:

For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.

Lesson no. 3: God is gracious and merciful

We are all sinners and we all deserve the penalty of death. However, because of God’s mercy, love, and compassion, He grants us grace so that we can be forgiven of our sin.

In the movie, Tony was granted grace by God and even by his wife. He almost cheated on Elizabeth, but because of God’s grace to her, she also extends this grace to Tony.

By sincerely asking for forgiveness, we can all enjoy God’s grace provided that we also turn away from our sinful ways.

Lesson 4: We must burn with zeal and passion for God

There’s a scene in the movie where Clara demonstrated why God doesn’t like lukewarm Christians. According to Revelation 3:16, Christ will spew us out of His mouth if we are lukewarm.

As Christians, we must be filled with the passion to do God’s work and fulfill His purpose in our lives.

Lesson no. 5: We must aim for heavenly treasures

Matthew 6:19–21 tells us:

DO NOT LAY UP FOR YOURSELVES TREASURES ON EARTH, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”.

Tony and Elizabeth may be materially successful. They have a big house, nice cars, and high-paying jobs. However, their riches didn’t save their marriage. In fact, it was the reason they are constantly arguing.

That’s why in our lives, let us not prioritize to get rich. Though God will bless us according to His purpose, we must aim for heavenly treasures instead. If we follow God and seek His righteousness, all our needs will be met.

It is not surprising that this movie obtained 4.9 out of 5 stars rating on Amazon from 7,200+ customers. Click the image below to be redirected to Amazon or click here to read more reviews from this movie.
