At the time of this writing, there were already 84 killed during the latest terror attack in Nice, France. The world is shocked how a man motivated by Islamic extremism could do such a heinous crime. This is just one of the many terror attacks that have occurred for the last few decades across the globe.
It is sobering to think that a man is capable of slaughtering other people in the name of religion. It is even mind-boggling for many to understand the motivation behind such cowardly attack.
There are no words enough to describe the pain each of the victim’s family is feeling right now. Christians must weep and sigh for tragedies like this. My heart goes out to all the victims. It is really a sad moment that we must all stop and pray for.
The Nice terror attack should teach us some vital lessons. Terrorists will use anything within their means just to destroy. This time, the primary weapon of the attacker is a lorry truck. He drove the truck in the midst of a big crowd and smashed everything within its path.
With the latest attack, France and other European Countries will surely tighten their security borders and may have to rethink their policies when taking in refugees. It is important to note that this is not just a clash of race, but a clash of culture and religious beliefs.
Many are appalled and sickened with these types of attacks. But we must also know in other parts of the world; some people praise the man behind the lorry truck, claiming that he has done something noble and gallant, that he is now entitled to their version of paradise.
Our world is really in a mess right now. Not a day passes by without hearing of the bad news. We need to realize this has already been prophesied. The Apostle Paul talks about this in II Timothy 3:1-5.
“But know this, that in the LAST DAYS PERILOUS TIMES WILL COME: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, BRUTAL, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
King of the South and King of the North
What we see today is the imminent fulfillment of Bible Prophecy. We are seeing how world events are setting up the stage for the second coming of Christ!
The prophet Daniel made an astonishing prophecy thousands of years ago. He is talking about the King of the South and King of the North. We read:
“At the TIME OF THE END the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them and pass through. He shall also enter the Glorious Land [the area of Jerusalem], and many countries shall be overthrown” (Daniel 11:40-41).
Bible students know that the King of the South is no other than a confederation of Islamic extremists coming from the “south” of Israel. On the other hand, the King of the North will be the European Union led by Germany.
We are now seeing how the King of the South is attacking the King of the North. Through terrorist attacks and even the flooding of Muslim refugees and immigrants. We are now seeing how the King of the South is PUSHING the King of the North.
As a response to the terrorist threat and attacks, the King of the North will attack the King of the South. We see the partial fulfillment of this as we see how European nations are participating in the war in the Middle East to destroy ISIS.
However, we need to notice that there will come a time when the King of the North will finally be fed up. The King of the North will ultimately come against the King of the South “like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships” until it will reach Jerusalem!
Yes, you read that right! The European Union will arrive in Jerusalem and shall overthrow many nations in the process.
A warning and hope
Jesus Christ gave us a warning:
“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is NEAR.”
There will come a time when the world will enter the WAR THAT WILL END ALL WARS. This will be the Third World War when humanity is on the brink of extinction.
“For then there will be GREAT TRIBULATION, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.”
All the negative things we are now seeing, including the terror attack in Nice, will just intensify until we reach the climax of human suffering – the great tribulation spoken of by Jesus Christ.
Yes, all these can be very frightening, but we must remember the words of Jesus Christ:
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
We can take comfort from these beautiful words of Jesus Christ. God will ultimately protect His people. There will come a time when all these things shall pass away, and we will enjoy prosperity, abundance, and lasting peace.
With all these happening, we need to pray more earnestly, “Thy Kingdom come!”
