Scripture of the Day: “Be Still and Know that I am GOD!”

God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear,

Even though the earth be removed,

And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Though its waters roar and be troubled,

Though the mountains shake with its swelling.

Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth!

– Psalms 46:1-3, 10

Be still and see the salvation of God.

Be still and see the salvation of God.

The comfort we find in God’s word is really amazing. This verse is just one of the many demonstrations of God’s love and care for His people.

At first, this verse may have less impact in our lives, less meaning in our thoughts, but when we are faced with danger and calamities, we see this chapter in different light. How easy it is for us to forget God when we are in smooth sailing and how easy it is for us to seek God’s presence when we are in need?

Though this is the natural tendency of our human nature, it is a must that we make it a conscious effort to every day seek God and acquire strength from His hands.

In times of trouble, we can always run to God and seek refuge. When we feel weak, we can ask God for additional strength. We will never be afraid though we may walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

Notice what the psalmist said. We are to be at peace even at the greatest type of danger. Even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea, though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.

These things are the most extremes and anything in between should not cause us to falter.

As long as we are in the Church, the gates of Hades will never prevail! If God is with us, then who can be against us. Heaven and earth may fade but His word will still be the same and His promises will always stand true.

Finally, be still… and know that God is indeed God. In other words, we can be at rest, be still, be confident, and relax. We can cast all our fears, doubts, and anxiety and put our complete trust and confidence in our loving Father.

After this, we will know that God is truly the God who will save us. This is the proof of His existence and divine power.

So be at rest, be still, and see the power of God!
