Did you know that the Bible lists encouraging promises of God? These promises, if you truly understand them, can be a great source of encouragement, strength, and faith. Today, in this blog, let me share with you the 3 of the most encouraging promises of God about your future found in the Bible!
What are the promises of God about your future?
If you try to read the news today, most of them indicate that the future would be dangerous, gloomy, and hopeless. The problem is that no matter how hard we try, we can’t know everything about the future and we can’t even control them.
However, I know of Someone who doesn’t only know the future but also CONTROLS it. Do you know who that Someone is? It is no other than Yahweh, the Most High God.
That’s why, as we go through this life, we might be tempted to be fearful of what the future holds. Thankfully, God promised us that the future is not going to end like in movies. It’s going to end with His Kingdom established here on the Earth!
In this blog, let me encourage and share with you powerful lessons from the promises of God. Here are three of them.
1. I will never leave you nor forsake you.
There are multiple verses where you can read this promise from Yahweh.
10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10
Why should we NOT fear? It is because God is with us. Why should we not be dismayed? It is because Yahweh is our God. How will God help us? He will strengthen us by upholding us with His righteous right hand!
What a powerful and beautiful promise from the LIVING GOD!
We also read:
6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
Why does God always instruct us not to be afraid? Because He knows that there are just so many things in this life that could make us afraid. Even our future can be very scary with wars, pestilence, and famine going on around us.
That’s one of the greatest promises God has for you about your future. That no matter how bad life gets, you can rest on this one simple truth that God will never leave you nor forsake you. People may leave you, people may disappoint you, and people may even try to destroy you, but one thing remains, God’s love for you.
However, when problems and trials come, we don’t feel God’s presence anymore. Thankfully, God’s presence is not based on our feelings. He is always there even when you’re not aware.
Because God is with you, what are you afraid of? Because God is with you, what are you worried about? Because God is with you, what problems are too great for you? The answer should be none.
When we truly understand who God truly is, how powerful He is, and how He has complete control over the future, there’s no reason for us to lose our faith.
2. I will provide all your needs.
The next promise of God about our future is this, “I will provide all your needs.” Let’s go to Matthew 6:25-32:
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
That in itself is a message for all of us. I don’t need to expound on that. The message is clear, if God can feed the animals, how much more would He feed us, His children? Sometimes, we forget about this and we are plagued with worry.
Here’s the thing: your heavenly Father knows what you need even before you ask for it. Now, notice, that He said, He will supply our needs, not our greed. You see, not all the time we know what’s good for us. Sometimes, we are asking God for something, but in reality, it will cause us pain and suffering. God, in His infinite wisdom, withdraws some things we pray for so that He can save us from ourselves.
Whatever your needs are, God has the power to supply it. He will definitely give it to you if it is good for you. If He doesn’t give it, then it is not good for you or He has something better for you. So, you don’t have to worry. You don’t have to be afraid. You don’t even have to question God’s wisdom and love for you.
3. I have a good plan for you.
We read in Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
The word thoughts here came from the Hebrew word, “machăshâbâh.” It means thoughts, plans, intentions, and purpose. So, we can read this verse, “For I know the thoughts, plans, intentions, and purpose that I think toward you.”
And what are these thoughts, God’s thoughts and plans for us are made of peace and not evil. What’s more, God wants us to have a future and hope.
What a wonderful and beautiful promise for all of us. A lot of people have plans for their lives and never even consider what God has planned for them. Sometimes, there are also people who don’t even have a plan for their lives. They are just drifting away in life, letting situations and circumstances decide where they will go. They don’t have a vision and no direction in life.
Did you know that God has a plan for you? The problem is that we sometimes want to have our own plans, not God’s plans. We want to be the ruler of our own lives. We want to be in full control. That’s why, what do some people do? They do their best to become rich because money gives them the illusion of having control. The problem is that the more we want to control our lives, the more we’ll lose control. Why not surrender our control to God’s control?
You see, brethren, God has a good plan for us, but it doesn’t automatically happen to us. You have to choose God’s plan in your life. We need to tell God, “I want to live your plan for me, Father. I’m willing to do whatever you want me to do. I’m willing to submit to your Authority. I know sometimes it won’t make sense and I won’t understand everything. Sometimes, it will hurt. Sometimes, it will cause me to lose what I consider precious to me. But I’m still going to do it because I want your plan for my life.”
Now, when you say these things and follow through, you will not miss out on God’s plan for you.
Will you believe God’s plan for you?
These are the three promises of God about our future that I want to share with you. Now, if you don’t believe these promises, then you can go ahead, take a pair of scissors, and cut them out from your Bible. But if you believe these promises with all your heart, I can assure you that you will have a wonderful, blessed, and beautiful future because you choose to trust God in your life.
Now, I know, it’s not always easy to believe these promises. However, you can learn to trust God day by day. Just take it one day at a time. Trusting God is a process and sometimes, it would take a lot of prayer, bible study, and fasting to really help you increase your faith.
I know you have a problem of your own. It could be about finances, relationships, health, a dream that never materialized, or whatever it is. I don’t know what you’re going through right now and what problems you are having, but this thing I know, God has promised that He will be with us and He will not forsake us. He promised that He would supply all our needs and He promised that He had nothing but good plans for us.
So, trust the One who knows the future. Have faith in the One who controls the future. Because in the end, brethren, this life will pass away. All of us will pass away, but God’s promises will never fade away. They will not fail. They will all come to pass.
