The Fourth Commandment, which is about the Sabbath Day, is perhaps the MOST ignored commandment among the Ten Commandments. A lot of Christians today would accept the other nine but not the fourth.

However, is this right? Could be millions, if not billions, of “Christians” today are mistaken? Could it be that the majority of Christians are disobeying the Most High God by keeping Sunday instead of Saturday as their Sabbath?

Well, the short answer is yes.

Sadly.

But that’s the truth.

You might find it difficult to believe, but I understand. Being in the traditional Christian world for a long time can easily erase the truth that is deeply ingrained in the Scripture.

So, to help you better know the truth, let me prove to you why Christians should still keep the Sabbath in this modern time.

The Sabbath Day is on the seventh day

Do a little experiment.

Ask any of your friends or strangers this question, “Which day is the seventh day?” Almost, if not all, would immediately tell you, “it’s Sunday!”

Well, that’s a common satanic deception.

If you look into the calendar, you will soon see it’s not Sunday, but Saturday!

Even if you read any secular sources, you will soon read that Saturday is the seventh day.

What is the big deal about Saturday being the seventh day? Well, it is because the Bible, it says that the seventh day is the Sabbath day!

We read:

“And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made” (Genesis 2:2-3).

So, there’s no shadow of a doubt, the Seventh Day is the Sabbath Day — not the first, second, or third!

The Sabbath was made for man

Our Master and Lord Yahshua proclaimed:

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27).

Did you notice that my friend?

Yahshua didn’t say, “the Sabbath was made for the Israelites.” He didn’t say, “The sabbath was made for the Jews.” Instead, we read, “The Sabbath was made for MAN!”

The Greek word used here is “anthropos.” It means human beings. So, if you consider yourself to be part of the human race, then the Sabbath is for you!

The Lord of the Sabbath is Yahshua

Yahshua or Jesus Christ is known to be the Lord or Master of the Sabbath.

We read:

“Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28).

So, if you want to follow Yahshua, then why not keep the day which He proclaims to be the Lord of?

Another crucial question to ask here is, “If Yahshua is the Lord of the Sabbath, who is the lord of Sunday?”

Could it be the master deceiver, the old and great dragon of old?

I’ll leave the answer to you.

No divine command of the Sabbath becoming Sunday

The first thing you need to understand is that the holiness and sacredness of the Sabbath were NEVER transferred from Saturday to Sunday. (When I say Saturday, please understand that I’m referring to the time frame from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset.)

Yes!

That’s right.

Even if you read from Genesis to Revelation, from the first to the last page of your Bible, you will never EVER find a single scripture that transferred the sanctity of Sabbath to Sunday!

To prove to you my confidence in this truth, if any of you my readers could find any verse in the Bible that says the Sabbath is already on Sunday, I’ll give you $1,000. That’s it. I’ll give it to you — no questions asked.

That’s my dare to you.

Jesus kept the Sabbath

Jesus Christ or Yahshua the Messiah kept the Sabbath. You may be surprised, but Yahshua didn’t go to synagogue services on a Sunday!

On the contrary, Yahshua’s custom, his way of life, was joining synagogue services on the Sabbath!

We read:

“So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read” (Luke 4:16).

The Apostles and early church kept the Sabbath

So, Yahshua kept the Sabbath. How about the Apostles and the early church?

We read: in Acts 13:42-44:

42 So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. 43 Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.

The Sabbath is still kept in the future

A lot of people claim that the Sabbath was already done away with. They argue that since Yahshua kept it for us, we don’t keep it anymore. Not only that, they claim that when Christ died on the stake, His death released us from the need to keep the Sabbath?

Is this true?

Well, let’s see Matthew 24:20:

“And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath” (Matthew 24:20).

If you read through Matthew 24, you’ll know that the setting of Christ’s discussion was during the end times.

Thus, when Yahshua said that you should pray that your flight may not happen on the Sabbath, He was proving to us that in the end times, His people would still keep the Sabbath!

If not, then why would Yahshua or Jesus Christ instruct us to pray not to have our flight on the Sabbath?

Not only that, Yahshua Himself said this:

17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:17-18).

Yahshua didn’t come to destroy the law. He didn’t come to abolish the law of His Father. In fact, He pronounced a curse to anyone who breaks the law of God, which include the Sabbath, and a blessing to those who will keep it:

19 “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:19).

If you keep on breaking the Sabbath or teaching people to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom!

There remains a Sabbath rest for God’s people

I believe if there’s one verse in the Bible that is difficult to refute, it would be Hebrews 4:9:

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God” (Hebrews 4:9).

If you don’t know Greek, you can easily miss the deep meaning of this verse.

The word “rest” here is quite interesting. In Hebrews 3 and 4, when you read the word “rest,” the Greek word used is katapausis EXCEPT for Hebrews 4:9.

Do you know the Greek word used for “rest” in Hebrews 4:9?

It’s sabbatismos.

This is the only place in the New Testament this Greek word is found.

Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary wrote about Sabbatismos:

“A Sabbath-keeping,” is used in Heb. 4:9, RV, “a sabbath rest,” KJVmarg., “a keeping of a sabbath” (akin to sabbatizo, “to keep the Sabbath.”

Thayer’s dictionary also defined it as “a keeping sabbath.”

There’s no shadow of a doubt that Yahweh expects His people to keep the seventh-day Sabbath.

In other words, Hebrews 4:9 is saying, “There remains therefore a Sabbath for the people of God.”

If you consider yourself to be part of God’s people or you want to be part of that group, then you need to keep the Sabbath.

Will you keep the Sabbath?

These are just some of the best ways to prove that the Sabbath is still applicable to true Christians today.

The Bible clearly tells us that the Sabbath is on the seventh day — Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. It is not on Sunday as most Christians today believe.

God put His name on the Sabbath, not on Sunday.

Who will you obey?

The decision is for you to make.
