Have you ever had a moment when a thought pops into your head and you wonder—“Wait… was that God? Or was that just me?”
You’re not alone.
In fact, this is one of the most common questions I hear from sincere, God-seeking believers. You pray. You wait. You listen. But then… doubt creeps in. Was that a divine whisper or just mental noise?
Let’s be honest—discerning God’s voice can sometimes feel like trying to tune in to a faint radio signal while driving through a tunnel. It’s not that God isn’t speaking. It’s that we haven’t learned to recognize His voice clearly.
But here’s the good news:
God is not hiding from you. He wants to speak to you. He is speaking. And yes, you can learn to hear Him.

The Battle Between Your Thoughts and His Voice
Here’s the challenge: We all have our inner voice. It’s that stream of thoughts, logic, emotions, worries, and hopes constantly running in the background.
So how do you tell the difference?
Let me give you a clue…
God’s voice often calls you higher—to love when it’s hard, to forgive when it hurts, to trust when things look impossible.
Your voice? It usually plays it safe. It rationalizes. It wants comfort and convenience.
God’s voice speaks truth—even when it’s uncomfortable.
Your thoughts often echo your fears.
One moment you might hear a gentle nudge:
“Reach out to that person and encourage them.”
Another moment later:
“No, what if they think you’re weird?”
Sound familiar?
God speaks in stillness, not in panic. In peace, not pressure. In alignment with His Word, never against it.
As it says in Isaiah 30:21,
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” (NKJV)
But how do you develop that level of spiritual sensitivity?
How do you know it’s really Him?
Here’s the Truth…
You can train your spiritual ears. You can grow in discernment. But it doesn’t happen by accident.
It takes time. Intentionality. Relationship.
Hearing Yahweh’s voice isn’t a mystical experience reserved for prophets and pastors—it’s the birthright of every believer walking in Christ.
But let me be real with you:
If you’re always on the go, constantly scrolling, distracted by noise—you will struggle to hear Him.
The still, small voice of Yahweh doesn’t compete with chaos.
