A lot of people struggle with this, and there’s one major mistake that holds them back—treating spiritual growth like a checklist instead of a relationship.
The Trap of Spiritual To-Do Lists
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking, If I just do X, Y, and Z, I’ll be spiritually strong.
We make plans to pray for 30 minutes a day, read a certain number of Bible chapters, and maybe even fast once a week.
And don’t get me wrong—these are all great practices.
But if they become nothing more than tasks to complete, we miss the whole point.

It’s about knowing Yahweh on a deeper level, drawing closer to Him, and allowing Him to transform our hearts.
If we approach it like a self-improvement program, we might end up going through the motions without actually growing in faith.
What Real Spiritual Growth Looks Like
Think about your closest relationships.
Do they grow because you schedule a five-minute conversation with someone every day?
Of course not!
Relationships deepen through meaningful connection—spending time together, listening, sharing, and being present.
The same is true with Yahweh.
He doesn’t just want your time—He wants your heart.
True spiritual growth happens when we:
- Seek Him with sincerity, not out of obligation.
- Listen as much as we talk (prayer isn’t just about asking—it’s about hearing His voice too).
- Apply what we learn instead of just reading for knowledge.
- Let Him lead rather than forcing our own spiritual timeline.
The more we pursue Him, the more we naturally grow. It’s not about forcing it; it’s about abiding in Him (John 15:5).
