“Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God” (Ephesians 5:20-21).
Sometimes, we just get overwhelmed by many concerns in our lives that we wish that we have more than what we have. It is not hard for us to see what needs to be done or what needs to be acquired rather than see what we have already accomplished or gained. It is the natural man’s way of thinking to be wanting rather than be content.
Being thankful does not come naturally. It is a conscious effort that needs to be done habitually.
Do you know that we should be thankful even in times of trials? Yes in times of trouble and distress, there is always something that we should be thankful for. In every morning that we wake up, the mere fact that you opened your eyes is reason enough that you should be thankful. If you complain about your day being the worst day of your life, try missing one day.
Being thankful gives us a unique ability to look at the bright side of life. It gives us the ability to be positive and not easily frustrated. Life is full of trials and it will be harder to live it with fear and distress. The world weighs septillion tons and we should not make it heavier by carrying a heavy heart.

Before you complain about too much noise from the environment, see it as a privileged opportunity to hear.
Before you complain about the mess around your house after some
one visits, be thankful you have good relationships with others.
Before you say unkind words to people around you, think of someone who can’t even speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food, think of a person who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife, remember the people who are still searching.
Before you complain about your life, think of someone you know who died.
Before you complain about your children, think of someone who desires to have just one.
Before you fuss about the state of your house, think of the people who live on the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive, think of someone who probably walks the same distance and while you’re at it, the people who have no feet.
Before you are tired and complain about your job, think of the unemployed who wish they had your job.
Before you complain about how stressed and burn-out you have become on your job, be grateful you have a job and that you count for something.
Before you think of pointing a finger or condemning others, remember that not one of us is without our shortcomings.
When depressing thoughts seem to get you down anytime, put a smile on your face and thank GOD you are alive and still around. Like the saying goes, a living dog is better than a dead lion.
Truly, the opposite of being thankful is complaining but once you wave away negative things and see the good things in everything, you will have a complete different perspective in life… a perspective that will entirely change your life!
So stop complaining about what you do not have but rather be thankful of what you already have. God will never leave you with nothing because we have His great promises that we will ultimately have His mercy and love – and that is more than enough than anything in this entire world!
